; MEEK, REUBEN H., died March 7, 1873, aged seventy-one years and five months. He was a resident of Patton township, and father of Hon. P. Gray Meek, editor of the Democratic Watchman. He was buried in Meek's burying-ground at Spruce Creek. Mr. Meek was born in Ferguson township, married Miss Mary Ann, daughter of Peter Gray, of Half-Moon, and until his death resided continuously in this county. No man in the county, perhaps, was better or more favorably known and respected. Although the greater part of his life was spent in agricultural pursuits, yet such were his varied attainments, his many virtues and hospitable nature, that he always enjoyed a large circle of friends and acquaintances. In early life he wan a leader in all movements in this county that had in view the development of its material interests or the advancement of society. Although a partisan, and always taking an interest in political matters, he never aspired or was elected to any office. He became a member of the Methodist Church at the early age of fourteen, and was a faithful and de-voted member thereof. His wife. Mary A., soon followed him to the grave; she died April 16, 1873.

"William married Elizabeth Breckinridge, whose family had settled in Huntingdon county about three miles southeast of McConnelstown, on the road leading from Huntingdon to Bedford, and where the father, eldest sister and younger brother had been murdered by the Indians. He settled on that part of his father's tract now known as the David G. Meek farm, and died in 1806, leaving his wife and four sons and a daughter born three months after the father's death. The children were: John B., born June 5, 1797, died in Washington, D.C., November 28, 1868; George W., born September 14, 1799, died May 27, 1877; Reuben H; William J; and Harriet Jane, who married James McCartney, and died in Bolivar, Penn., in 1881."5

George Hyskell was born on 25 December 1764 at York, York Co., Pennsylvania, USA.6,4,1 He married Eve Gray, daughter of Peter Gray Sr. and Eve/Eva Ann Kreider, at Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania, USA.6,4,7,1

George Hyskell died on 9 February 1848 at Shippenville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, USA, at age 83; "George Hyskell, after living some time on the homestead, moved to Venango County."2,4,1
George Hyskell was buried after 9 February 1848 at Shippenville Methodist Church Cemetery, Shippenville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, USA; from Find A Grave website:
Birth:      Dec. 25, 1764
York
York County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death:      Feb. 9, 1848
Shippenville
Clarion County
Pennsylvania, USA

Born in York County, George moved to Huntingdon County, where he married Eve Gray and in 1822, relocated with his wife to Clarion County, Pa., where he lived until he died. George's father and mother were Benjamin Hyskell and Anna Margaretha Spessert (also spelled Spessard by Ira Hyskell, who wrote a book on the family). George and Anna's families were of German origins. George's name is sometimes spelled HYSKILL and other times, HYSKELL. Please note that on his very old cemetery marker, the spelling is HYSKILL - not Hyskell.
Update: my apologies for formerly attributing this burial to a different area cemetery and thanks to Tim Martin for doggedly pursuing the right burial site information. I visited there and several other local cemeteries and took the photo in 1995, accompanied by a great family history lover, my great Uncle Donald E. Kahle.
