; per van de Pas: "Son and heir of thomas Arundell "The Valiant", 1st Baron Arundell of Wardour, and Lady Maria Wriothesley. As a devoted royalist he raised a regiment of horse for the king. His wife, Blanche, daughter of the Earl of Worcester, gallantly defended Wardour Castle against the parliamentary forces under Sir Edward Hungerford. she was finally forced to surrender, but on honorable terms. However, these were not observed; the castle was sacked and Lady Arundell removed to Dorchester as a prisoner. Lord Arundell was at the batlle of Stratoon where, on 16 May 1643, he was fatally wounded and died at Oxford on 19 May 1643. His widow survived until 28 October 1649 when she died at Winchester."3
