Botho’s Chronicon Brunsvicensium Picturatum records that “Hertoghe Wilhelm, Hertogen Otten sone to Lunenborch” married four times, one of whom (named first) “Maria...des Koniges dochter van Paioriken”[191]. The reliability of this information is uncertain as the same source misrecords Wilhelm’s other three wives and the order of their marriages. Another primary source which confirms her marriage has not been identified."

; from Ancestry.com - Murphy Buffum et al Family Tree: "In the last years of her life, a granddaughter of Isaiah Todd Murphy and his wife Rebecca Jane, Mrs. Nell Rebecca (Murphy) Veasman, told the following story of the Murphy Family's departure from Franklin County: "The family moved from Franklin County, Missouri, first to the area of Iberia in Miller County in 1866. Isaiah, Rebecca and the children, their stock and two or more covered wagons made the trek in three to four days' time. Enroute, during a heavy rainstorm, one of the wagons tipped over while fording a swollen creek, and many of their possessions were lost or ruined. A family living nearby where this incident occurred cleaned out a chicken house to afford dry shelter for the travelers until they could reorganize to continue the journey. In this party, along with Isaiah and his family, came Elijah W. Murphy also, brother of Isaiah. One old negro woman accompanied them. She had been a slave of the family prior to emancipation of the slaves. This negro woman later worked in a hotel in Rolla, Missouri, and lived to a great age. I remember visiting with her in Rolla, Missouri, when I was a young girl."4 "

Memo: Posted by Patricia Minch on Ancestry.com on 4 March 2012: "Map Showing Some Sections of Franklin Co., Missouri, 1810-1850
A map showing original ownership of several parcels of land in Franklin County. Location 3A on the map is the parcel purchased by "the heirs of Isaac Murphy, deceased, assignees of Isaiah Todd." Location 7 on the map is the parcel purchased in the 1840s by Isaiah Murphy, eldest son of Isaac. Isaiah Murphy married Rebecca Jane Clark, daughter of Mary "Polly" (Campbell) Clark, who purchased Location 2. The balance of the locations were purchased by relatives of Mary "Polly" (Campbell) Clark."6 He was was mentioned in a land transaction by Isaac Murphy on 30 March 1826 at Franklin Co., Missouri, USA, Message posted by Patricia Minch on 11 May 2008 on Ancestry: "30 March 1826, Franklin Co., MO
The original of this land patent is in the hands of one of Isaac Murphy's descendants, who assumed it was the patent for Isaac Murphy's original property in Franklin County known as Mount Vernon. However, upon closer examination, this is not the case. Mount Vernon was located in what became Section 8, Township 44 North, Range 1 West, whereas this patent refers to a 160-acre parcel somewhat farther south, in Section 27, Township 43 North, Range 1 West. The patent is granted in the name of "The legal Heirs and Representatives of Isaac Murphy, deceased, Assignees of Isaiah Todd." A possible explanation for this patent may be that Isaiah Todd, as guardian of the Murphy children, illegally sold the original property and was then forced by the Court to purchase another quarter section of public land and assign it over to the Murphy children as a replacement."7

Isaiah Todd Murphy was listed as a resident in Nancy Todd's household in the census report in 1830 at St. John Township, Franklin Co., Missouri, USA; p. 136, Line 11

Elijah Wesley Murphy was born 5 Nov 1817 at St. Johns, Franklin Co., MO. He was the son of Isaac Murphy and Nancy (Todd) Murphy. He is sometimes called "captain" because he operated a steamboat on the Missouri, not because he was connected with the military.

; from Ancestry.com: Elijah Wesley Murphy was born 5 November 1817 at St. Johns in the then county of St. Louis, Missouri, the second child and second son of Isaac and Nancy (Todd) Murphy. Elijah grew up in that location and on 13 August 1840 married Dolly E. Dobyns, the daughter of Edward B. Dobyns, a longtime family friend. Elijah and Dolly's first child, Edward B., was born in 1841, followed in 1843 by Frances Ann, in 1848 by Julius, and in 1852 by Alice Coleman Murphy. Elijah was evidently a bright and enterprising young man, and although there is no written record of just what his commercial endeavors consisted of during the first years of the marriage, he was evidently successful for by 1860 he was operating a substantial ferry and steamboat business with a value of $8,500. Elijah's personal life was not so fortunate. His eldest daughter, Frances Ann, lived only five years, and his second son, Julius, lived only three. In 1855 his wife Dolly also died. .

A few years later, on 14 January 1858, Elijah married Mary A. Bacon (nee Mary A. Falls), a young widow 15 years his junior, the daughter of John and Isabella Falls of St. Louis. Mary bore him three more daughters, Frances Ann or "Fanny" (named for Elijah's deceased daughter), born in 1861; Ida M., born in 1863; and Eva Winona, born in 1870 and died in October 1877. .

When Elijah's brother Isaiah and his large family left Franklin County in 1868 to move first to Miller County and then on to Pulaski County, family lore says that Elijah and his family accompanied them, although for how long is unknown. While Isaiah's family remained permanently in Pulaski County, Elijah evidently returned to the banks of the Missouri River, and the 1870 census finds the family in Warren County, across the river from Franklin County. A history of Franklin County written much later, in a section dealing with business enterprises in the town of Washington, says that Elijah had a ferry and steamboat operation from 1860 until 1878, so evidently his 1868 trip to Miller/Pulaski counties was only a temporary stay. By 1880, however, he and his family did move permanently to Pulaski County as Elijah served as the Postmaster of the town of Dixon in 1880 (this according to the Centennial History of Dixon, written in 1969). .

Elijah died in Dixon, Pulaski County, Missouri, in 1895. His death, according to family lore, was attributed to blood poisoning occasioned by the presence of an unattended thorn in his heel. He was taken back to Franklin County for burial in Lot 198 at Wildey's IOOF Cemetery, the same plot where his first wife, Dolly Dobyns, and three young children from his first marriage were buried (Frances Ann, Julius and Alice Coleman). In cemetery records, Elijah is called "Captain," evidently a reference to his career as a river boat captain rather than a military designation..

[Note: In the records of the Missouri State Legislature, there is an E. W. Murphy who served as a representative from Washington, Franklin County, for two terms in 1856-1858 and 1862-1864. However, this is Edward W. Murphy, not Elijah.] .10
He was Merchant - 1850 census; steamboat captain - Find A Grave; postmaster at Missouri, USA.11,12,13 He was was mentioned in a land transaction by Isaac Murphy on 30 March 1826 at Franklin Co., Missouri, USA, Message posted by Patricia Minch on 11 May 2008 on Ancestry: "30 March 1826, Franklin Co., MO
The patent is granted in the name of "The legal Heirs and Representatives of Isaac Murphy, deceased, Assignees of Isaiah Todd." A possible explanation for this patent may be that Isaiah Todd, as guardian of the Murphy children, illegally sold the original property and was then forced by the Court to purchase another quarter section of public land and assign it over to the Murphy children as a replacement."14

Elijah Wesley Murphy was listed as a resident in Nancy Todd's household in the census report in 1830 at St. John Township, Franklin Co., Missouri, USA; p. 136, Line 11

She was was mentioned in a land transaction by Isaac Murphy on 30 March 1826 at Franklin Co., Missouri, USA, Message posted by Patricia Minch on 11 May 2008 on Ancestry: "30 March 1826, Franklin Co., MO
The patent is granted in the name of "The legal Heirs and Representatives of Isaac Murphy, deceased, Assignees of Isaiah Todd." A possible explanation for this patent may be that Isaiah Todd, as guardian of the Murphy children, illegally sold the original property and was then forced by the Court to purchase another quarter section of public land and assign it over to the Murphy children as a replacement."6
