; Per Genealogics:
"Amédée was the son of Richard III de Montfaucon, Graf von Mömpelgard, sire de Montfaucon, and Agnès de Bourgogne. He succeeded his father as lord of Montfaucon, Orbe and Échallens. Through his skill he managed to reunite all the domains of the house of Montfaucon in the diocese of Lausanne with the fiefs of Pontarlier and Ornans.
"About 1250 Amédée married Mathilde, Gräfin von Saarbrücken, widow of Simon II, seigneur de Commercy, and daughter of Simon III, Graf von Saarbrücken, and Laurette de Lorraine. Of their four children, Gauthier and Agnes would have progeny; Agnes married Aimon II, comte de Genève, vicomte de Marsan. Before his marriage, Amédé also had an illegitmate son Barthélemy.
"In 1218 the death of Berthold V, Herzog von Zähringen, had opened the way for Amédée to enlarge his domains with the help of Jean 'l'Antique' de Châlons, comte de Bourgogne, d'Auxonne et de Chalon.
"After the death of his father Richard III, the new lord of Montfaucon increased the boundaries of his forests, especially that of Échallens. At the same time disputes arose between Amédée and Pierre II de Savoie over rights in the lands of Yverdon. Pierre II had ringed the city with a fortified wall, thus preventing Amédée, who had repaired his bridges, mills, fishponds and a port on the lake, from receiving his dues. As Amédée could not sustain a war against such a powerful rival, he agreed to sell his rights in 1260. Five years earlier Amédée had been awarded part of Orbe held by Jean l'Antique's son Hugues 'de Châlons', Count Palatine of Burgundy.
"The town of Orbe, which was open and composed of several neighbourhoods, was now entirely in the hands of Montfaucon, and Amédée made it a closed town by extending the walls that connected the town to the castle. As well, the lands of Montfaucon formed a united territory including Bouclans, Roulans, Vercel, Vennes, Vuillafans-le-Viel, the guardianship of Morteau and La Grâce-Dieu, the lordship of the manors of Neuchâtel-Urtière, Saint Hippolyte, Châtillon-près-Maiche, Vuillafans-le-Neuf and Passavant that he had formed between 1255 and 1266. He then accomplished the same thing with his lordship of Échallens where he enlarged the castle and rebuilt the mills and towns.
"Amédée died on 15 January 1280.6

; Per Med Lands: "GÜNTHER (-killed in battle near Cotrona 13 Jul 982). The primary source which confirms his parentage has not yet been identified, although his naming his oldest son Ekkehard suggests a close family connection with the senior Graf Ekkehard. "Otto…imperator[ augustus" confirmed the appointment of Pope John XII by charter dated 13 Feb 962, signed by "Eberharti comitis, Guntharii comitis, Burgharti comitis, Utonis comitis, Cuonrates comitis, Ernustes"[124]. Markgraf in the bishopric of Magdeburg 968: "Otto…imperator augustus" set out his plan to elevate the bishopric of Magdeburg to an archbishopric by an undated charter, placed in the compilation with other charters dated 968, in which he names "marchiones nostros Vuigbertum, Vuiggerum et Guntherium"[125]. "Otto…imperator augustus" donated "civitatem Zuenkouua…in regione Chutizi et in comitatu Gundherii comitis" to the church of Merseburg by charter dated 30 Aug 974[126]. He went to Calabria in 979[127]. The Annales Einsidlenses record that "Uto et Guntharius duces…Berehtaldus comes" were killed fighting the Sarracens in Sicily in 982[128]. The necrology of Fulda records the death in 982 of "Gundheri com"[129].] m ---. The name of Gunther's wife is not known.
