; Message from mtmurray03 posted to G Vaut on Ancestry 18 Sept 2014: Looking at your tree we would hazard a guess that it is in the Hudson line. Not sure if you have started to look at your David Hudson that was listed in your Mother's tree but we believe the answer lies there. My sister and I have untangled our direct line in the Hudson tree back a bit, however there are a number of David Hudson's that we have not yet entered on the tree since there is a bit more research that needs to be completed. David Hudson is a name that shows up on multiple generations and is also shared within generations between cousins/families. We need a bit more research, however we can say that we are aware of Hudson migration to Missouri via Kentucky and Ohio from Virginia. It can be confusing and we like to be pretty confident in the data we post. We are steadily working on our tree and need additional research/information out of Va. to make more connections. If you discover a link in working back through your David Hudson please let us know.

;      I just found a new possible ancestor through both my mother's DNA test results on Ancestry and mine (see attached chart). This new result showed up on Ancestry ThruLines as a possible link from her to a John BURKE (1737-1788) who is suggested by Ancestry to be the father of my mother's 3rd great grandmother (my 4th ggm). Ancestry shows 51 DNA matches with other possible children of this John BURKE (chidlren who are proposed as siblings of Nancy BURKE). I consider that a significant number of DNA matches and that, therefore, there is a reasonable probability That my mother and I are descended from this John BURKE.
Up to now, I had not identified any parents for Nancy BURKE or any siblings for her. I am now adding John BURKE as a likely father and will evaluate the other claims on Ancestry and elsewhere regarding a lineage for John BURKE and other children of his. I have also added three siblings for Nancy, all of whom appear on the attached DNA match chart: William, Edmund and Susannah BURKE. I have added these three, so far, because I have found osme data on them. The chart shows a fourth possible sibling, Philip BURKE, for whom I have so far not found any information.7 GAV-4.

Anne Dulaney was born in 1705 at Culpeper Co., Virginia, USA; Early Colonial Settlers says b. ca 1712 in st. George's Parish, Spotsylvania Co., VA.5,3 She married Capt. Benjamin Roberts Sr, son of John Roberts and Elizabeth Trammell, circa 1728
; SAR Application #50439 and three DAR lineages (#90694 and #10381) all give Benjamin's wife's name as "Ann DULANEY." Some Ancestry family trees call her "Ann Dulaney FIELD," but show no credible FIELD genealogy for her. DAR lineage #335152 (for descendant Ms. Maybell Cecil Roberts JONES) shows a Capt. Benjamin ROBERTS (1750-1837) who m. an Ann FIELDS, but this is not the same Capt. Benjamin. This early DAR application could be the source of some people's confusion.

From SAR Application: [quote] Capt. Benjamin Roberts, Sr. of St. Mark's Parish, Culpepper Co., VA, served his country in church and state, in Council and in military affairs. For 40 years, he served St. Mark's Parish as Vestryman and church warden and during the troublous times, when the church sank so low that the English clergy were not acceptable to the colonists, he read the service for St. Mark's Parish and gave of his time and means to keep burning the light which had grown dim. He was one of the 16 Justice of the Peace for Culpeper Co. who on Monday, the 21 of Oct. 1765 drew up and signed the protest to Gov. Fauquier against the imposition of the Stamp Act, emphasizing their protest by resigning their commissions. There were ofther Justices who did not join this protest, drawn up by the brave 16, "This protest, I hae seen in the Court House in Culpeper Co." says Mrs. Chas. Hyde, a sister of Judge Bachman.
Capt. Benj. Roberts, Sr. was a committeeman of Safety for culpeper Co. during the dark days of the Rev. War. His son, Capt. Benj.      BIRTH     1662, County Laois, Ireland
DEATH     4 Apr 1738 (aged 75–76), Joppatowne, Harford County, Maryland, USA
Thomas was born in Rathkrea, County Queens (now named County Laois). The town is not shown on maps of recent vintage, therefore FAG does not show it on the radio button for towns of County Laois. Coil Uachtaracht is Gaelic Irish for Upperwoods. part of the old Upper Ossory section of Western Ireland. County Laois (pron. LEESH) was named by the English, County Queens, later renamed County Laois after Irish Independence. Thomas was married twice, both were named Sarah, no maiden names are known.
Joppatowne was once the County Seat of Baltimore County, located at the confluence of the Gunpowder River and the Chesapeake Bay. The river silted up and the town died. Close to it's demise, the new Harford County was formed from parts of Cecil and Baltimore Counties.

; per Cutler Family Tree (Ancestry): "The sons of Thomas Dulany arrived in Port Tobacco, Maryland in April of 1703. Joseph, Daniel, and William were bound in articles of redemption to the captain of the ship that had transported they to the Colonies. It was the right of the captain to sale at his own discretion these articles and make them indentured servants to the buyer. However, it appears that they made satisfactory arrangements upon their arrival for there is no evidence that they were indentured to any resident or planter in the Maryland area. Evidently, Joseph obtained and served an apprenticeship in a local doctor's office, William taught school, and Daniel studied law in the office of Col. George Plater of Saint Mary's County, Maryland. .

Thomas Delany, Sarah his wife and his son, Thomas arrived in Maryland in 1709. According to an entry in the MarylandCalender of Wills, Thomas Delany, age 19 witnessed and signed a will of one of the crewman of the vessel Mary out of London, England in the year 1709. The will was later recorded and probated in Maryland that year. Settling in Port tobacco and later Joppa, Maryland, the county seat of Maryland. Thomas changed his name to Dulany, to conform with his three son's name who had arrived before him. .

Thomas Delany/Dulany's descendants are now spread across America. Descendents of a rich Irish heritage. Possibly the descendents of kings and certainly, the descendents of educated and enlightened men who helped to ensure the birth of a new nation."

Comments added to this page:
[1] todd7034 More: The misspelling isn't of the ships name, its beforehand. Col George Plater was not "of St. Mary's County", he had interests there, however he lived in Charles County at what is now called LaPlata. Eventually Daniel (the Elder) took over Plater's Law Practice, later moving from St. Mary's Towne to the new Colonial Capital of Annapolis. Many sites around present day Baltimore are named for the Dulaney family and many of the Colonial Dulany's/Dulaney's are buried in the City, notably Daniel Dulany, the Younger who is buried near Edgar Allen Poe. For reference see: The Dulaney's of Maryland, Vol. 3 of Studies in Maryland History Pub: The Maryland Historical Society A biographical Study of Daniel Dulany, The Elder (1685 - 1753) and Daniel Dulany, The Younger (1722 - 1797) Aubrey C. Land (Associate professor of History, Vanderbilt University) 1955 The book is out of print but many libraries can order it for you. 09 May 2013

[2] todd7034 errata: Besides the earlier misspelling, The "Mary" was a brig. The sons came over in "The Armada of 100 ships of 1703" that split up at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Thomas changed the spelling of his name in Ireland, this was one of the two factors that caused the riff between he and his 3 elder sons. The other reason was Thomas cut off the tithe he sent the boys for their tuition at the behest of his second wife, Sarah. When Thomas finally realized his sons were not planning to return to Ireland, he packed up his new family and sailed for Port Tobacco, where his sons had landed earlier. He changed the spelling of his name back to the original Dulany which was the original spelling taken from O'Dubhshlaine (pron: o-dew-flanya). The pronunciation was done by a gent in County Leix in Ireland who spoke Irish Gaelic. I found where Thomas and Sarah are buried, feel free to visit my tree for photos and a narrative.
