     MANSFIELD -- Curtis Rodger Ervin, 79, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016. Rodger was born Oct. 19, 1936 in the Webb Community. He was a 1954 graduate of Mansfield High School and attended Arlington State College. Rodger married Barbara Perry Ervin June 15, 1956. He retired from General Dynamics after 23 years and retired again from Mansfield ISD in 1999. Rodger had a lifelong love and interest in aircraft and was an avid bird watcher.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Etoye Ervin and daughter, Angela Kay Porter.
     Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Ervin; daughter, Rene' Moericke and husband, Gale; grandchildren, Zachary Moericke and wife, Hannah, Brandon Brumley, Alyssa Moericke Hilts and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Liam and Brin Hilts; brother Glynn Ervin and wife Priscilla; several aunts, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.1

     Earl was born Jan. 7, 1926, to Elmer Ervin and Mattie Sprinkle Ervin. Earl, who was known as Hozy to all his hometown friends, and his four brothers grew up on the family farm in Mansfield. He left school at the age of 17 and joined the Army. During World War II, he fought bravely in the European theater as a soldier in the 89th Infantry, marching across France, Belgium and Germany, concluding his tour of duty in Austria. He crossed the Rhine River in a wooden boat, helped liberate Ohrdruf concentration camp and served for a time under Gen. George S. Patton. Following the war, Earl joined the Texas National Guard where he achieved the rank of captain, retiring in 1976. In addition to serving in the Guard, Earl was a civil servant for 36 years in several government branches, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
     He loved carpentry and built the house on Hamil Street in Mansfield that his family lived in for many years.
     The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to all of the wonderful professionals at Fort Worth's John Peter Smith Hospital for all of their care and consideration to the family during a very difficult time.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; one daughter, Linda Susan Simmons; and son, Richard Michael Ervin.
     Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Dora Lee Ervin; daughter, Connie Givens of Dallas; son-in-law, Wayne Simmons of Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ervin of Arkansas; grandchildren, Wendy Miller, Jason Simmons, Rebecca Montgomery, Natalie Givens and Christa Ervin; great-grandchildren, Caleb Simmons, Ashley Miller, John Montgomery and Amelia Montgomery; and many nephews and cousins.

     Dora Lee Ervin passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. Dora Lee was born to Lawrence Lyle Hemphill and Thelma Ivy Baker Hemphill on Sept. 20, 1926, in Carney, Okla. After her high school years, and at the age of 20, she married Earl Hozy Ervin on Dec. 24, 1946, in Fort Worth. Dora Lee was a homemaker and a devoted stay-at-home mother. Earl and Dora raised their children here in Mansfield and made Mansfield home, however, because of Earl's employment with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, the family moved around the southern part of the United States, which the family enjoyed. They did move to Little Rock, Ark., for a few years because of Earl's employment as well as Camp Polk in Leesville, La., at the end of Earl's tenure and return in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. From Louisiana, Dora moved her family home to Fort Stewart, Ga., for two years of Earl's military service, before returning home to Mansfield. Earl's military commitment ended on Sept. 24, 1963. After Earl's passing on Dec. 6, 2009, Dora Lee moved to Dallas to be near her daughter, Connie. Dora Lee was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Earl; sister, Rexie Tidwell; daughter, Linda Susan Ervin Simmons; and son, Richard Michael Ervin. Survivors: Dora Lee is survived by her daughter, Connie Lee Givens, as well as Connie's husband, Glenn Clark; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Ervin, wife to Dora and Earl's deceased son, Richard Michael Ervin; grandchildren, Jason Simmons and wife, Mendy, Wendy Simmons Miller and husband, Ray, Rebecca Ervin Montgomery and husband, Ed, Natalie Brooke Givens and husband, Aaron Cole, Christa Ervin Brown and husband, Jesse; great-grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Caleb Simmons, John, Millie and Sadie Montgomery, Richard James Brown and Bennet Givens Cole; as well as many nieces and nephews.      She was born Aug. 11, 1950, in Fort Worth. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1968 and attended Tarrant County College. Linda worked at Spartech Plastics for 25 years as a customer service supervisor. Linda was admired, respected and loved by her colleagues and her customers. Linda will be primarily remembered for her love and devotion to her children and her husband. She was a quiet, unassuming person who worked behind the scenes; she was a doer and a go-getter. She always got the job done, no matter whether it was business or personal.
     She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Ervin, of Arkansas.
