     George “Pat” Edward Case, Jr., 92, husband of Jean Hollerith Case, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
     Born September 2, 1925 in Cherokee Springs, SC, Pat was a son of the late George E. Case Sr. and Lillian Ruth Turner Case. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1943, and a graduate of University of Virginia, Beta Gamma Sigma, class of 1948. Pat honorably served his country in the US Naval Air Corps during WWII.
     In Baltimore, MD, on May 17, 1952, Pat married his wife, Jean Chichester Hollerith. He was President for 45 years of the Case Bros. Music House in Spartanburg. Pat was a previous charter member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church and past Senior Warden, former member of the Spartanburg Rotary Club, former charter member of Sertoma, the Spectator Club, and the What Ja Say Club, former President and Chairman of the Board at the Spartanburg Day School, and Past President of the Spartanburg Music Foundation. He was a current member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent.
     In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his sons, George Edward Case, III (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA, Randolph Hollerith Case (Shelley) of Williamsburg, VA, and Robert Beverley Case (Bobbi) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, George Edward Case, IV of Boston, MA, Daniel Sands Case (Catherine) of Reston, VA, Andrew Talcott Case (Corrine) of Richmond, VA, Emily Simmons Case of Charlottesville, VA, Michael Todd Lamb of Virginia Beach, VA, and Robert Vernon Lamb of Norfolk, VA; and a great grandchild, Zachary Daniel Case of Reston, VA.
     Pat was predeceased by his sister, Annie Fayssoux Hines; and a brother, Bennie T. Case.

     Mrs. Sarah Fox (nee Hollerith) Nietsch, 85, of Exeter, New Hampshire, formerly of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, died Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2007, at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, New Hampshire. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, Mass.
     Born in Pennsylvania on Oct. 3, 1922, Mrs. Nietsch was the daughter of the late Herman and Sarah (nee Fox) Hollerith. She lived in Upper Montclair for 50 years before moving to New Hampshire. She was the loving wife of the late Herman Erich Nietsch, to whom she was married for 52 years.
     Throughout her lifetime, she worked as a bookkeeper for several care giving organizations and was a longtime volunteer at Mountainside Hospital. An avid gardener, she received many awards from the American Horticultural Society and was always active in the Garden Clubs of the communities where she resided. Mrs. Nietsch also enjoyed cooking, sailing and her dogs.
     She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Nietsch of Newburyport, Mass; her son, Rick Nietsch and wife, Patricia, of New Canaan, Conn; her two grandchildren, Eric and Katrina of Connecticut; her two sisters, Lucia Lefferts of Darien, Conn., and Jean Case of Spartanburg, S.C., as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

     A memorial service for H. Erich Nietsch, 83, of Upper Montclair, an aeronautical engineer, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 73 South Fullerton Ave., Montclair. Arrangements are by Arthur K. Brown, Inc., Bloomfield.
     Mr. Nietsch, who died Saturday in Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City, was an aeronautical engineer and vice president of marketing at Robintech, Inc., Teterboro, New Jersery, where he worked for many years before retiring. Prior to his career at Robintech, he had worked at Argo Marine Inc., New York City. Mr. Nietsch earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1938 and completed graduate school in Germany before returning to the U.S. in 1939. He co-authored the books, "Clouds, Weather and Flight" and "The Theory of Flight." An avid sailor and wooden boat preservationist, Mr. Nietsch sailed and raced at the Stamford Yacht Club in Connecticut.
     Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he lived in Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Upper Montclair more than 50 years ago.
     Surviving are Sally (nee Hollerith), his wife of 52 years; a daughter, Elisabeth; 2 sons, Eric H. and Richard (Patricia); one sister, Mrs. Margaret Melzig, and two grandchildren.

     Mrs. Lefferts was born in Moorestown, New Jersey on August 15, 1925, to Herman Hollerith, Jr. and Sarah Fox Hollerith. Her grandfather, Herman Hollerith, was the inventor of the punch card system, which predated computers. She attended Moorestown Friends School, National Cathedral School, and graduated from Connecticut College in 1947 with a major in Art.
     Mrs. Lefferts worked as a medical artist and photographer under Dr. C. Everett Koop at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia prior to her 1951 marriage and subsequent move to New York City. The family moved to Darien in 1955, where in addition to raising five children she was an avid sailor, accomplished artist, photographer, videographer and computer "techie". She produced ads for local businesses, including the Darien Sport Shop where, for decades, her handwriting adorned the wall along Leroy Avenue. She ran the AV Department at the Darien High School in the early 1980's before moving to public access TV where she produced numerous segments for Darien Dateline. Her last employment was with Greenwood Press in Westport, CT. She was a dedicated volunteer, lending her creativity to countless organizations over the years including St Luke's Parish, Royle School PTO, Darien Arts Council, Darien Community Association, Darien Library, Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, Darien Nature Center and the Darien Historical Society. C.C. was truly a renaissance woman; she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
     Mrs. Lefferts is survived by her husband of 60 years, and 4 of their 5 children; 16 grandchildren; one great grandchild; 1 sibling and 1 cousin; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
     She was predeceased by her parents, sister Sarah H. Nietsch; her brother Herman Hollerith, III; and her daughter Helena "Boo" Gillet Lefferts.
     A memorial service will take place at St Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Interment will be at a later date at Ware Church in Gloucester, VA.
