moved to Richland County, Ohio in about 1846. They had five sons (which
I won't bother you with names). Jane died February 23, 1871, and is
buried at Shenandoah, Richland County, Ohio. There is one remarkable
thing about Jane and her Quaker religion (known for being pacifists).
Several or all of her sons fought in the Civil War. I cannot say why
they fought but I suspect they had strong antislavery opinions (derived
from their mother's religion).⁴
