MotherElizabeth Sims2 b. 1783, d. 1840
Last Edited25 Jul 2022
Benjamin Roberts married Mary "Polly" E. Gibbs.
Benjamin Roberts was born circa 1783 at Virginia, USA; Aged 67 in 1850 census.1
;      DAR lineage 103831 shows the Benjamin ROBERTS who m. Mary DULANEY to have been the son of the Capt. Benjamin ROBERTS (1720-1782) who m. Ann DULANEY. Capt. Benjamin ROBERTS did indeed have a son named Benjamin ROBERTS, Jr., but he was too old to be the Benjamin ROBERTS who m. Mary DULANEY.
Several Ancestry Tree show this younger Benjamin ROBERTS to have been the son of a Joseph and Elizabeth (SIMS) ROBERTS, but these trees have only moderate documentation.
N.B.: Many family trees give the wife of Benjamin Roberts (1782-1860) as "Mary DULANEY" (probably on DAR lineage #103831). However, many other trees say she was Mary Ellen "Polly" GIBBS. I do not believe she was a DULANEY. GIBBS is more feasible, given that she was born in KY (and not VA).

James Madison Pratt was listed as a resident in Benjamin Pratt and Mary Roberts Sims's household in the census report on 7 August 1820 at Prince William Co., Virginia, USA; The 1820 census for Prince William Co. seems to be in alphabetical order and Benjamin seems to be the only PRATT listed. However, he and Mary were not known to have had other children. So this may not be the same Benjamin.
