Per Vaughn [1986:27]: "Thomas Yancey died intestate in 1826. An inventory of his estate was made 19 June 1827. The legatees of Thomas Yancey, deceased, ordered a "division of land" on 21 August 1827. The legateeswere his wife, Sarah, and his children, Susan, Keziah Ann, Elizabeth, James P., Charles L. , Benjamin M., and John W. Yancey. [72, p. 453].
"Pursuant to a decree of the County of Culpeper, valued, annexed,di vided above land and allotted the same to the legatees of Thomas Yancey, deceased. Made by W. George Spelman and respectfully submitted to Coun ty Court." [ 72,pp. 453, 454].
