     Elijah was born to Elias Gottleib Schoenecker / Seneker and Nancy Katherine Susong, probably in Sullivan County, where his parents had settled in 1793. He was one of the last of at least eleven children, who included Barbara Seneker b. 1794, Andrew Seneker (1796-1876), Sopha Seneker b. 1798, John Elias Seneker (1799-1881), Elizabeth Seneker b. 1801, Sarah Seneker b. 1804, William Seneker (1806-1879), Louisiana Seneker (1810-1884), James King Seneker (1813-1886), and Jacob Susong Seneker (1818-1890).
     By 1842 he was a resident of Greene County, Tennesse. On 10 November, 1842 he married Nancy A. Susong,(born 4 July 1819) who was his first cousin, and also a resident of Greene County. To Nancy and Elias were born three children: Jacob Columbus "Lum" Seneker (1844-1925), Elizabeth Louisiana Seneker (1846-1848), and Andrew Decator Seneker (1849-1925). Elias' wife Nancy died 19 April 1852.
     On 11 May 1854 Elijah remarried in Greene County, this time to his first cousin once removed, Harriet Russell, daughter of Henry Russell and Martha "Patsy" Susong. To them would be born at least 10 more children. Their first child Albert Loren Seneker did not survive his first day, on 12 Mar 1855. It is unsure whether they were still living in Tennessee at that time. However, by 1856, the family had moved to Newton Township, Buchanon, Iowa, where Elija worked as a farmer. Their next two children were born to them in Iowa: Nancy Amanda "Amanda" Seneker (1856-1930), and James Elijah "Bud" Seneker (1858-1953).
     Later in 1858, or 1859, Elijah moved his family to the vicinity of Mirabile, Caldwell County, Missouri. The next three children are believed to have been born in Caldwell County: Martha Jemima Seneker (1861-1880), John Thomas Seneker (1863-1920), and Alonzo "Lon" Adolphus Seneker (1865-1945.)
     Some time between 1865 and 1870 Elijah moved his family again, this time settling for good in Mount Vernon Township, west of Mount Vernon, in Lawrence County, Missouri, where he continued to farm. Four more children would be born: William Curtis Seneker (1867-1948), Milburn Seneker who did not survive the day on 8 July 1869, Abbie Rella "Abarrilla" Seneker (1870-1877), and Lillie Pearl Seneker (1873-1874).
     Elijah was a Methodist and a Republican. When he died on 25 February, 1886, he was survived by at least two brothers: James King Seneker and Jacob Susong Seneker; his wife, Harriet; and the following children: Nancy Amanda Seneker Tanner, James Elijah "Bud" Seneker, John Thomas Seneker, Alonzo "Lon" Adolphus Seneker, William Curtis Seneker,and Abbie Rella "Abarilla" Seneker Gibson.
