      ; Alexander; Preb York 1361, Archdeacon Durham 1369–71, Archbp York 1374–88, titular Bp St Andrews (nominated 1388 by POPE URBAN IV but papal authority in this matter not recognised by Scots), close adherent of RICHARD II, advising him not to give in to demands for less partisan rule, found guilty of treason by Parl 1388 when RICHARD temporised with the Lords Appellant (nobles opposed to him) by sacrificing his closest adherents; d in exile 16 May 1392 at Louvain, where he ministered as a parish priest.1 He was Archbishop of York in 1374.2

Sir Geoffrey le Scrope Knt. was buried in 1362 at Konigsberg Cathedral, Konighsberg, Russia (now); where his comrades had his arms painted in the window.2
      ; Geoffrey (Sir), knighted in the camp before Paris, April, 1360; after the Peace of Bretigny went on crusade into Lithuania with the Teutonic Knights, under their Grand Master, Winrich von Kniprode; bore the Masham white label gobonny gules, as did the later est sons of this house; m Eleanor (who after his death took the veil and became Abbess of the Minories, in London), dau of Ralph, 2nd Baron Nevill, and was k at the siege of the castle of Piskre 1362, and bur in Königsberg cathedral, where his comrades had his arms painted in the window.2 He was 1st Lord (Baron) Scrope of Masham in 1350.1
