Eugene and Emma got married on November 4, 1886 in Mansfield, New Jersey. They had 4 children: Joseph G., Virgil W., Marion and Andrew R. Willey.

A little less than 2 months after Eugene and Emma's 4th child was born, Emma died. Emma's sister and mother, Mary and Rebecca Gilbert, moved into Eugene's home to help take care of the 4 children. Sometime afterwards, Eugene and Mary got married.

Eugene was a lumber dealer. He founded the Colonial Memorial Park Cemetery.

EUGENE S. WILLEY CLAIMED BY DEATH

Prominent Contractor And Bank Director Succumbs To Illness.
Funeral Monday.

Following an illness of about eight months due to complications, Eugene S. Willey, of the E. S. Willey & Brother Lumber Co., and a director of the Colonial Trust Co., died this morning at his home, Park Place, Broad Street Park.

Mr. Willey, who was largely responsible for the development of Broad Street Park, had been confined since the latter part of last December.

Born in Delaware 59 years ago, Mr. Willey came to this city over 35 years ago, when but a young man. He attended the old A. J. Rider College, and after graduating from that institution he entered the contracting business. About 20 years ago he and his brother, J. Edgar Willey, formed the E. S. Willey & Brother Lumber Co., and he had been active in that concern until his last illness.

Some years ago Mr. Willey purchased the old Rowan farm, formerly located on South Broad Street at Park Avenue, and developed the site into building lots. He was largely responsible for the growth of that section and was active in the affairs of the community, having long resided there. The E. S. Willey School, located on Broad Street, Broad Street Park, was named in his honor.

Mr. Willey was a director of the Colonial Trust Company since that institution's organization. He was also active in Masonic circles, having been a member of Loyal Lodge, F. & A. M; the Mystic Shrine; Jr. O. U. A. M., and P. O. S. of A. An active member of Broad Street Park M. E. Church, Mr. Willey was president of the official board of that church, and was also president of the Wesley Grove Camp Meeting Association.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Kate B. Willey, he is survived by four children, Contractor Joseph G. Willey, Virgil W. and A. Rowan Willey, of the Broadway Garage, and Mrs. Marion Davenport; two brothers, J. Edgar and B. Conner Willey, and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from his late home. Interment will be in the Colonial Cemetery under direction of Ivins & Taylor.
