Francis Johnston from January through September 1777. the August muster roll has the notation "During the War" when his term of enlistment is mentioned. In the muster roll for September 1777 under date of Oct. 10, 1777 he is marked "Missing Sept. 11." This would indicate that he probably lost his live on the day of the Battle of Brandywine."1
