     Margaret Rose Nicholas Parsons, age 85 of Saratoga, Texas passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Margaret was born March 15, 1925 to Orene Thompson Nicholas and Nims Nicholas.
Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Scoggan of Houston, granddaughter, Erin Scoggan, sister, Marjorie Nicholas of Beaumont and niece, Barbara Hawkes and her husband Marshall of Kountze. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Eldon Coye Parsons and her son Eldon Gerard Parsons.
     During World War II, Margaret worked as a riveter in the Beaumont shipyards and after her marriage, continued to live in Beaumont and raise her family there. After retiring to Saratoga, she enjoyed traveling with her son and daughter. Together they visited Rome, Paris and London on several occasions.
     Her funeral service will be 10am Monday, April 12, 2010, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive in Beaumont. Burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.

     Charlotte was the daughter of William Rector of Tennessee, and by 1860 she was married to George W. Buster of Tennessee, and they were living in Lynn, Missouri. They had a son, John W. Buster, who was two years-old at that time, and they lived next to the Hardin McPherson's, whose mother was a Malinda Rector. November 2, 1865 the American Civil War was over, and she married John Jackson Roberts, 23 years her senior, in Fannin County, Texas. In 1870 a son, John W. Roberts appeared with a sister, Tennessee, the same age, and another sister two years younger, named Malinda. By then, Hardin McPherson was killed in the war and his parents were also on the way to Texas, where they were enumerated in 1880. Charlotte's death certificate ironically showed her cause of death at 85 years as senility.
