"County's Old Resident Died - Edward McClain (sic) died Friday evening, 10th June, at his residence near Stone Bluff, past 80 years of age. His wife preceded him in death about one year ago. The funeral services were held in Osborn Prairie Church northwest of Stone Bluff, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C.E. Howard at Sterling. It was a military service, held under the auspices of the GAR, the post from this city being in attendance.
The following tribute to McClain (sic) was furnished by the comrade, C.H. Todd of Attica. "Ed McClain (sic) was a splendid soldier, an ideal citizen, a generous neighbor, and a great-hearted friend. He once said to the writer: All things considered, my best and greatest work in life was accomplished in the rights and slavery in the sixties.
Many relatives of the family being in attendance, his late wife being a sister of the late Oliver Boord." - Covington Republican, June 17, 1921, page 1

DEATH 1929 (aged 80–81)
"PIONEER FARMER DIES SUDDENLY - Uncle Lew McLean, Resident of this Section For 50 Years Dies in Lafayette, Sunday - Uncle Lew McLean, one of the pioneer farmers of this section, who has lived for the past fifty years on his farm in the Osborn Prairie section, passed away, Sunday afternoon, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edith Crane, at Lafayette, with heart trouble. He was spending the winter in that city with his daughter.
Uncle Lew came to this section from Tioga County, Pennsylvania, in 1879, and settled in the vicinity of Osborn Prairie, northwest of this city.
