Abu Zayd Abd ar-Rahman (?) was born in 1195.1
Abu Zayd Abd ar-Rahman (?) died in 1268.1
; per van de Pas: "became a Christian as Vicente Fernandez. Abu Zayd was born about 1195. An Almohad sayyid or prince of the blood, he was the last wali or governor of the province of Valencia in the Almohad empire of Spain and North Africa.
After the Christian victory at Las Navas de Tolosa in 1212, the Almohad empire was plunged into confusion, factionalism and civil war. Islamic Spain fragmented into mini-states unable to present a common front.
An anti-Almohad hero, Ibn Hud, proclaimed himself emir of al-Andalus, while just north of Murcia the province of Valencia under Abu Zayd was the only Iberian fragment still loyal to the Almohad cause. However, Valencia produced its own rebel: Zayyan, a local aristocrat of the Banu Nardanish lineage, who drove Abu Zayd to the north and entered Valencia city in triumph in 1229.
From 1232 until 1245, the crusading armies of Jaime I, king of Aragón, worked their way down the Mediterranean coast. In 1238 they conquered the city of Valencia and extinguished the last segment surviving in Spain of the Almohad empire. On its ruins, they created the kingdom of Valencia. Paradoxically, they achieved this with the aid and blessing of Abu Zayd, who became a Christian and adopted the name of Vicente Fernandez. He married a Christian, Maria Ferrandis, and they had a daughter Alda who would have progeny."1

He is now extensively and successfully engaged in agricultural pursuits in Kiamichi county of the Choctaw nation. He represents an old and well-known family of the south , his paternal grandfather being John Parker, who was born in Virginia and emigrated to Kentucky in the pioneer days of that commonwealth, there spending the remainder of his days. John Parker, the father of our subject, was born in Kentucky, and after arriving at years of maturity married Melvina Hudson who was born in Tennessee and died in Dallas, Texas, removing to the Lone Star state with an uncle. Her husband died when the subject of this review was only six years of age, but the latter did not come to the west until after he had attained to man's estate. His education was acquired in the public schools of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and in Franklin College, of Springfield, that state, pursuing his studies in the latter institution for two years. He was reared to agricultural pursuits and has always followed farming and stock-raising. After putting aside his text-books he began dealing in stock and trading in other lines. In 1876 he came to the territory, locating first in the Cherokee nation, in the vicinity of Fort Gibson, where he resided for about a year. Since that time he has been a resident of the Choctaw nation, and he now owns five hundred acres of very valuable and productive land under cultivation, situated between Hamden and Nelson, in Kiamichi county. He raises stock on an extensive scale, and the products of his farm find a ready sale on the marker. His home is pleasantly situated about nine miles southwest of Antlers.
"Mr. Parker was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Willis, a daughter of Britt Willis, who was born in the Choctaw nation and was only about one-sixteenth Choctaw. Her death occurred in 1898. The marriage was blessed with five children, - Gabe, James W., Lulu, Cora and George. The eldest son is a splendid young man and was graduated in Kendall College, at Muskogee, being now principal of the Armstrong Academy at Academy. Mr. Parker holds membership in the Methodist Episcopal church, to which his wife also belonged. He is identified with the Knights of Pythias fraternity, and has held some minor offices, having been election clerk in the county and also school trustee. It is not because of special prominence in public affairs that he has, and is justly entitled to , the respect and confidence of his fellow men, for his personal qualities are such as to make men esteem an honor him."7

Hudson is descended from English ancestry who came to this country at a very early day and settled in Virginia, where two of them remained, while one removed to New York and settled on the Hudson River.
Of the two remaining in Virginia, from one, Reuben [sic], is descended the subject of this sketch.
Joshua Hudson, grandfather of Washington, lived in Amherst Co., Va., and was a wealthy and influential farmer, the owner of much land and many slaves, as was killed by the falling of a tree. He was a soldier in the war of 1812.
Aratia Hudson was his only son , who at the age of twenty-one married a Miss Banks, of Garrard co., Ky. Their children were Joshua, James, Washington B., Dr. Lynn B., Nancy, Isaiah B., Reuben, Melvina, Commodore Perry, and Mary Louisa.
Washington B. Hudson was born July 3, 1813, in Garrard co., Ky., on sugar Creek. His boyhood and early manhood were spent at home. Aug. 26, 1833, he was married to Miss Louisa Marksbury, youngest daughter of Isaac Marksbury, a prominent man in his day. He was magistrate of the court for more than twenty years, a man noted for his many good qualities of head and heart, and an active and efficient member of the Christian Church.
The children of W. B. and L. M. Hudson have been William D., Aratia, Isaac M. James, Mollie Lynn, Clayton A., Allie and Thomas J.
Washington B. Hudson after his marriage engaged in farming on his own account. In 1848 he came to Davidson Co., Tenn., and settled on the farm he now occupies, purchasing it from Dr. James Overton. His original purchase was five hundred and fifty-four acres, to which, however, he added from time to until his farm comprised eight hundred acres of excellent land, three hundred acres of which he still retains, the rest having been apportioned to his children on their marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Hudson are members of the Christian Church, a pretty edifice, of which stands at the food of the lane leading to their house, Mr. Hudson bearing the principal part of the cost of its erection."11
; Note: SAR applications show the father of Joshua Hudson to have been this Reuben, but other evidence points to his father having been Joshua Sr.

He was a mentioned with Washington Banks Hudson and Louisa Marksberry; per Clayton [1880:483]: "Washington B.
Hudson bearing the principal part of the cost of its erection."3
