;
His 2nd wife; her 3rd husband.1
Thomas Stebbins died on 5 September 1683 at Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, USA, at age 63.1
Thomas Stebbins was buried after 5 September 1683 at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, USA; From Find A Grave:
     BIRTH     1620, Harwich, Tendring District, Essex, England
     DEATH     5 Sep 1683 (aged 62–63), Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA
     Arrived in Springfield 1639 and remained 44 years, until his death 1683.
     Thomas STEBBINS purchased the lot, that became Court Square. Thomas was elected as Selectman 3 times and served on important committees. His accounts with Pynchon indicate that he must have been a tailor as the notes include words like wastcoates, coates and mending, stockens and caps. The large purchases of thread also indicate that he was a tailor.
     Thomas was probably born at Bocking, Essex. He came to America with his parents, lived a time in Roxbury, Ma and moved to Springfield with his family in 1639. Thomas married Hannah Wright at Springfield and they were the parents of nine children. Thomas was active in arrangements to settle towns around Springfield, including Northampton, Westfield & Enfield. records indicate he made plans to settle in each of them, but every time he remained in Springfield. He was active in military affairs of Springfield and against the Indians. In his later years he was called Lieutenant on the records.
     Father Rowland Stebbins
     ---Born 1592, England
     ---Died 1671 Dec 14 Northhampton, MA
     ---Married in England Sarah Whiting
     ---Born 1591 England
     ---Died 1649 Oct 4 Springfield, MA
     He came to America on the Francis of Ipswich, April 1634 at age of 42 yrs from Essen County, England. Born near the Parish of Stebbing. Landed in Boston 1634, settled in Roxbury, MA, which was the 6th town incorporated in Massachusetts. He move to Springfield in 1639, three years after the founding of the town, where he was the owner of several lots & planting grounds allowed to the original settlers. His wife Hannah died Oct 16 1660 only weeks after their son Rowland was born. Thomas married Widow Abigail Burt. Abigail had previously been widowed twice. Thomas died in 1683 and Abigail died 1707.
     Thomas Stebbins was a surveyor and tailor. His skills as a tailor came in handy for the purchase of land from the Indians, who valued English-style clothing. Clothing made by the tailors were traded to a local Indian chief in return for the land that later became the town of Hadley. The efforts of Benjamin Cooley as weaver, plus those of Thomas Stebbins and Samuel Marshfield, the local tailors, would seem to have played a part in bedecking of the Indian chieftain.

     *Speculative at this point that this is her actual headstone, I believe the name Hannah can be seen if the image is reversed into the negative, and the stone is in close proximity to that of Ebenezer Dickinson. I will return to examine this further. She was certainly buried Hill Cemetery in any case.
