Rev. James Pleasant McCubbins died on 16 March 1824 at Green Co., Kentucky, USA, at age 68.1
Rev. James Pleasant McCubbins was buried after 16 March 1824 at Vance Cemetery, Eve, Green Co., Kentucky, USA; From Find A Grave:
BIRTH 14 Apr 1755, Rockingham County, North Carolina, USA
DEATH 16 Mar 1824 (aged 68), Green County, Kentucky, USA
It is not known for sure where James is buried, but it is highly suspected that he is buried here with other family members.
James McCubbin's will is recorded in Green County, Kentucky and the will, by law, has to be recorded in the county and state that you died.
Carolyn McCubbins Scott has two different records one dated 1933 written by a great grandson and had the genealogy compiled and states:
James McCubbin was born April 14, 1765, place not known but perhaps either Maryland, Virginia or North Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War. His Army service will be found in Rev. War pension Claims W 1836 and verified in National No 250,045. He was 19 or 20 years of age at the time of his enlistment.
He married Miss Polly Cook in Rockingham County, NC in 1784 where they resided until 1806. He had relatives in Green County, Ky., since 1796 and in 1805 James visited these relatives and he was so favorably impressed with the new country that he moved there the following year.
James McCubbin died in Green County, Kentucky March 16, 1824. All of his 13 children were alive and well and attended their father's funeral.
(Unfortunately he does not state where he was buried) and his death date coincides with the probating of his will which was April 1824.
Another source, "The McCubbin Story" by A Maxim Coppage III
The only difference in her material is James was born 14 April 1755 (of course could be a typo). Married 29 Dec 1784 in Rockingham County, NC by Rev. Isaac Cantrell, to Mary (Polly) Cook same info about where they lived and when they moved to Green County, Kentucky. It also states he died 16 March 1824. All of his 13 children were alive and well and attended his funeral.
James and Mary "Polly" Cook - one of their sons, James McCubbin Jr, died in Miller County, Missouri. [NOT JAMES McCUBBIN SR]
Info by Carolyn McCubbins Scott
James was the son of William McCubbin and Eleanor "Nellie" Conley McCubbin.
James Pleasant and Mary "Polly" Cook McCubbin had 13 children. He died 16 March 1824 and it has been told all 13 children attended the funeral and all 13 are named in his will. He lived at Eve about 2 miles down the road.
Their children were:
