H. C. Sterling Funeral Set For Thursday
Funeral services for Harry C. Sterling, manager of the Lima and northwest divisions of the Ohio Power Co., who died of a heart attack Monday at a meeting of the Rotary club in the Hotel Norval, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Market Street Presbyterian church. The Rev. Cornelius Nicholas Bakker will conduct the services. The body will be taken to the home, 1601 Lakewood-av, late Tuesday afternoon, and will be at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Sterling, who was born in Dixon, Ill., had been in the utilities business forty years. In 1914 he was assistant manager of the American Gas & Electric Co., in Atlantic City. From there he went to East Liverpool, where he remained about three years before coming to Lima in 1922 to join the Ohio Power Co.
Sterling is survived by the widow and a brother, Fred Sterling, who lives in Illinois.

     Dr. John N. Cowen died at his residence in this village yesterday morning. The first Cowen of record in this country was John Cowen from Scotland who was of Scituate, Mass. in 1656. In the third generation this family was found in Rhode Island and the fourth generation came into Cattaraugus County in 1833. This generation saw service in the Revolutionary war. Dr. Cowen was of the seventh generation, his parents being John Madison Cowen and Rachael A. Seager. Dr. Cowen was educated in the public schools, at Chamberlain Institute and he graduated from Ann Arbor's dental department in 1878. He located his first office in East Randolph then coming to Randolph six years later. He was a trustee of Chamberlain Institute, a village trustee and has been connected with all the movements for the upbuilding of the community. He was elected president of the State Bank in 1894 and continued 33 years in that position.
