This tract was known as "Woods Joy." On 2 October 1669, said EDWARD WOOD conveyed 300 acres of this tract to JOHN MIRTH.      The date of birth shown on this memorial page was incorrectly converted from Julian to Gregorian. Per Quaker record, William was born 15th da., 8th mo., 1662.
     Prior to 1751, the first month of the Julian calendar was in March, not January. OS dates between 05 Oct 1582 and 28 Feb 1700 must be adjusted by +10 days, and additional adjustments must be made to accommodate leap years.
     The Quaker date written as 15th da., 8th mo., 1662 converts to 15/25 Oct 1662, whereas 15 Oct 1662 is Gregorian (OS) and 25 Oct 1662 is Julian (NS).
     You have a note on the memorial page that states "find it hard to believe all three siblings suggested by Quaker documents were born during the month of October." That fact wouldn't be so difficult to believe if we consider that William may have only been home in Nansemond in the springtime to be with his wife, and elsewhere (perhaps at his plantation in Isle of Wight) during the rest of the year. Other Quaker records demonstrate that he was a merchant, so maybe he was busy making a living for his family during the other months.

     Prior to 1751, the first month of the Julian calendar was in March, not January. OS dates between 05 Oct 1582 and 28 Feb 1700 must be adjusted by +10 days, and additional adjustments must be made to accommodate leap years.
     The Quaker date written as 15th da., 8th mo., 1662 converts to 15/25 Oct 1662, whereas 15 Oct 1662 is Gregorian (OS) and 25 Oct 1662 is Julian (NS).
     You have a note on the memorial page that states "find it hard to believe all three siblings suggested by Quaker documents were born during the month of October." That fact wouldn't be so difficult to believe if we consider that William may have only been home in Nansemond in the springtime to be with his wife, and elsewhere (perhaps at his plantation in Isle of Wight) during the rest of the year. Other Quaker records demonstrate that he was a merchant, so maybe he was busy making a living for his family during the other months.

I have uploaded a digital image to the memorial page of the historic Quaker record demonstrating the dates of birth for the children of William and Marie Pope. I prefer to go with actual historic records, whenever possible, instead of what others write because I have found way too [many] discrepancies between the records and what others write. The historic record clearly states, as follows...
"Wm Pope & Marie his wife their Childrens Nattivitties recorded as followeth.— Wm Pope, sonn of the aforesd Wm & Mary was borne the 15th of the 8th month 1662. Henry Pope, sonn of the aforesd Wm & Mary was borne the last of the 11th mo: 1663. Alse Pope daughter of the aforesd Wm & Mary was borne of the 8 mo: 1667. John Pope sonn of the aforesaid Wm & Mary was borne the 6th of the 8 mo 1670."
As for the Quaker date conversion, I wrote a software program which accurately takes into account all known variables when making the conversions. The dates that I provided are accurate. However, I made one error in my message... please accept my apologies... in the last sentence, "Gregorian (OS)" should read "Julian (OS)", and "Julian (NS)" should read "Gregorian (NS)".

      ; Some family trees have named this Rawleigh's wife as Mary "Polly" Ferguson, but I believe that she she married the Raleigh who was the son of John and Elizaeth (Forbes) Humphrey.

The Mary Ann "Polly" Ferguson who married Raleigh "Ralei (1777-1827) was apparently born in Kentuck, not in VA where Rawleigh Humphrey (c1768-aft 1850) lived all his life.1

      ; NB: William was on the same page as Rawleigh in the 1820 censusin Stafford Co., VA, but I only surmise that he might have been Rawleigh's son or a younger brother (or a relative, at all). A William Humphrey continues to be found in Stafford Co., VA through the 1840 census, and then can't be found (at least by me).
     On the other hand, the consensus among Ancestry Family trees seems to be that William (son of Rawleigh) moved to Ohio some time before 1830. There was a William Humphrey in Belmont Co., OH in the every decennial federal census from 1830-1880 and there is a William Humphrey (1799-1892) buried there. The 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses for a William Humphrey all show his birth ca 1805-1810 (which conflicts a bit with the Belmont Co FAG Memorial for a William Humphrey.
     My current conclusion is that William the son of Rawleigh, stayed in Virginia until at least 1840, after which I have been unable to find a record for him. The implied ages for the Stafford Co. William from the 1820, 1830 and 1850 census is roughly 1781-1790. This is at least a decade older than the various birth dates offered for the Belmont Co. William.1,5,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16

William Humphrey was listed as a resident in Rawleigh Humphrey and FNU MNU's household in the census report in 1810 at Aquia, Stafford Co., Virginia, USA; Rawleigh and his wife must have a number of grandchildren living with them 7 children under 10), and possibly a widowed son (Male aged 16-25).
