     NOTE: He had a cousin William b. 21 Sept 1721, son of Joseph 1700-1725. This William, son of John b.abt 1697, d.abt 1741 [a bit notoriously unreliable] King George County, VA Order Book 1726/34 part 2, pge 475, dated December 5, 1729, shows that one Jane Humphrey had bound (apprenticed) her two sons, William (born 9/21/1721) and John (born 10/15/1724) to John Bourne. An assumption is made here that the father of the two boys named did not appear on this order because he was deceased, the assumption is also made that it was necessary for Jane to apprentice her sons because her husband had died, limiting the family income.
     A Joseph Humphreys (Humphrey) died January 22, 1725/26 per St. Paul's Parish records and was probably Jane's husband

William Humphrey died in 1800 at Brunswick Parish, King George Co., Virginia, USA.6,5,2
     ; NB: I have started working on the ancestors of John Humphrey/Humphreys, using various resources from Ancestry and Ancestry/Rootsweb. For the moment, this looks like this:
?? ??? /Joseph Humphrey (unk- ca 1725/26
??? /William #? Humphrey (1721-1800)
???|??? Jane
John #1 Humphrey 1745-bef 1815
??? Sarah Ann Wood

FAG memorials have been created for two Williams:
FAG #185992756: William #1 born 6 Dec 1720 and had a son John #1 1745/50-1815;
FAG #191188673: William #2 born 2 Sep 1721 and had a son John #2 1724-1767

These two Williams may been cousins. Obviously, a John (#2) born 1724 could not have a father born in 1721. But I have not found any clear evidence as to which of the two Williams was actually the father of John #1 (who m. Elizabeth Forbes).
FAG memorial #185992756 for William #1 states:
"Note: He had a cousin William b. 21 Sept 1721, son of Joseph 1700-1725
This William, son of John b.abt 1697, d.abt 1741 [a bit notoriously unreliable]
King George County, VA Order Book 1726/34 part 2, pge 475, dated December 5, 1729, shows that one Jane Humphrey had bound (apprenticed) her two sons, William (born 9/21/1721) and John (born 10/15/1724) to John Bourne. ; NB: There seem to have been two William Humphreys living about the same period
William #1 born 6 Dec 1720;
William #2 born 2 Sep 1721

They may been cousins. some researchers assign William #1 as the father of John, while others assign William #2.

According to Early Col Settlers, the William HUMPHREY (1720-1800) was the son of John and Joyce (MNU) HUMPHREY, not Joseph and Jane (POPE) HUMPHREY as I had found oun the atteburry/wurtz family tree. I have decided to reassign the parents of William to those shown by Early Col Settlers.5,7,6,2

     ; NB: I have started working on the ancestors of John Humphrey/Humphreys, using various resources from Ancestry and Ancestry/Rootsweb. For the moment, this looks like this:
?? ??? /Joseph Humphrey (unk- ca 1725/26
??? /William #? Humphrey (1721-1800)
???|??? Jane
John #1 Humphrey 1745-bef 1815
??? Sarah Ann Wood

FAG memorials have been created for two Williams:
FAG #185992756: William #1 born 6 Dec 1720 and had a son John #1 1745/50-1815;

Paul's Parish records and was probably Jane's husband."7,1,8,4,9

Jane Pope died in 1775 at Stafford (King George) Co., Virginia, USA.2
     ; NB: I have started working on the ancestors of John Humphrey/Humphreys, using various resources from Ancestry and Ancestry/Rootsweb. For the moment, this looks like this:
?? ??? /Joseph Humphrey (unk- ca 1725/26
??? /William #? Humphrey (1721-1800)
???|??? Jane
John #1 Humphrey 1745-bef 1815
??? Sarah Ann Wood

FAG memorials have been created for two Williams:
FAG #185992756: William #1 born 6 Dec 1720 and had a son John #1 1745/50-1815;

Paul's Parish records and was probably Jane's husband."1,7,8,9,10
