11. William Smoot will, Westmoreland County, Virginia deeds and wills 4:20-21, FHL
microfilm 0,034,269. Harry Wright NEWMAN interpretted the will as that the daughters were of age, and that William and Thomas may have been by the second wife. There is no indication in his will that the daughters were of age. That William stipulated that Willam and Thomas were to be placed under Eleanor's care, was probably because they were not her children. That the son William (Jr.) was of sufficient age in 1713 to testify in a court case, he was certainly a child of the first marriage. The fact that Mary was a minor in 1717 when she chose [her uncle] John VEALE as her guardian would indicate she was a child of the second marriage. That William's second wife Eleanor in her will made bequests to Sarah and Winifred, and their children, and none to William or his children would also indicate the females were her children, and William was from the first wife.

Jh Note: The will of Thomas Boys dated Aug. 1, 1657 and Prob Oct. 20, 1657 in Westmoreland Co. was witnessed by Richard Browne. His executors were: John Hallowes, John Hillier, and Thomas Wilsford. His will states he left his sisters and his son Thomas in Isle of Wright and says his son was about 32 in 1656. "his now wife Elizabeth" may indicate a previous marriage. Thomas Boys was in St.Mary's Co by 1637. His name seems to pop up most frequently with Nathaniel Pope and Marmaduke Snow.

Note: Now right here, before the following abstracts appear, Mr. Fleet plainly understands that they are in contradiction of aooepted interpretations. All he can do is to present the record as it appears to him. Please do NOT write 75 letters asking why. To his best count there are 37 errors in the transcript of Mrs. Bernard's letter. It is shown here as best he can. Also the name in the entry is 'Peter Fifepound'. Possibly this is the origin of our good old Virginia name of Flippen. At any event it is positively not 'Peter Phispoundt - certainly nobody would like that very much, and it is not true according to this entry. B.F..

Bonnie TREON: I received a reply from Donald L. Wilson of RELIC about this and apparently Joane/Jane WEBB had that cattle mark for 12 years before the date of 23 Mar 1686/87 which would mean (according to this reply) that Edward SUTE, I, of VA, had died prior to 1662 so he cannot be father of Nathaniel SUITE,

I believe though--that he was their grandfather.

He may be the same Edward SUTTE transported to MD in 1657 but he may have been in MD before this time and was returning since his prob. daughter Katherine who m. Elias WEBB surely was in VA prior to 1650.

I did find out Elias HORE's wid. remarried to Wm. HARRISON. Elias was grandson of Katherine SUTE & Elias WEBB and great-grandson of Edw. SUTE & Elizabeth MNU.

Elias HORE also owned VA land orig. patented for Baker "CUTT" or CUTTS in 1653.
