Mrs. Sue Susong Dead (Obituary)
     Mrs. Sue E. Susong, widow of George W. Susong, died at her home near Bridgeport April 1st, at 10 p.m.., after a lingering illness. She is survived by seven children, all of whom were with her during her last hours. They are:
     Miss Hestor Susong and John B. Susong of Bridgeport. J.A. Susong and Mrs. Robert B. Hickey of Newport, Mrs W.H. Smith of Dandridge, Mrs. Edmond Burnett of Washington City, Mrs. Lucius Harvin of Manning S.C.
     Mrs. Susong was born April 7, 1844. She was one of six children of Mr. and Mrs. John Stokely and was the last of this prominent family in passing. When four years old she came with her family to the present Susong home, where she was reared and received her early education. Later she attended school at Jonesboro and at Mary Sharp College at Winchester.
     In 1868 she was married to George W. Susong whom she survived 32 years. In her early girlhood she joined the Baptist church of which she remained a consistent member until her death. As a Christian, her faith never wavered and she bore her illness with its attendant pain with the greatest fortitude. Her life was a living sermon in its optimism-somehow, sometime, things would all comeout right. There was never a cloud so dark but that she found its silver lining.
     Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jesse Burnett and Rev. A.L. Crawley Sunday afternoon at the home. Here on this perfect April day, surrounded by friends and loved ones, amid a profusion of flowers which she loved so well, the last rites were read, and they laid her to rest with her loved ones in the family burial ground, near the murmering waters of the French Broad river amid the encircling arms of her beloved mountains.
