Received in an e-mail from Waneta Arner 'In the Book ' It's McCraw Not McGraw', Anna McCraw Tarleton, descendantof Selina, wrote: ' This summer [date not mentioned] we found the graveof Selina Beauchamp McCraw about ten miles from Ada, Okla. in SevenShooter Cemetery. Aunt Beanie could remember seeing the tombstone at herhouse when she was very small because her grandmother had the same namethat she does. It sat on the porch until Grandfather Joseph DilmeddieMcCraw could take it to Ada. At that time, they lived near Maud,Oklahoma. I felt as if I had found a gold mine.' Near DeQueen, Arkansas, between Dierks and DeQueen, we found the littleMethodist Episcopal Church South that my Great Grandfather on the otherside of the house was given the property by his father-in- law to buildthe church. It was back in the tall pines, beautiful and they had churchthat Sunday. I was disappointed that we did not find my great grandfatherburied there. Lots of graves marked but no stone. Oh, by the way, myaunts also remembered his talking about his mother and living in Arkansasand Mississippi. Another beautiful story. Sarah Annie [my grandmother] died frompneumonia & her children remember the circumstances. After Christmas, she needed to wash and where they lived in Oklahoma it was very cold. She washed on the south side of the house but she got pneumonia. Thenight she died my Aunt Beanie was awakened by one of her Aunts to tellher that her Mother was dying but my Aunt said 'No, because I can hearher singing.' Our grandmother was singing a hymn and when she finished, she died. If only we knew the hymn she was singing. Steve McCraw,HC 60 Box 240, Lovington, NM 88260.
