Edward C. Mills Sr. married Jennie (?)
; his 2nd wife.1,3 Edward C. Mills Sr. married Keziah Pritchett circa 1776.1,3
Edward C. Mills Sr. was a mentioned with William Mills and Sophia P. Banks;
See Unknown [1907:374-5] for more details on this MILLS family and the children of William and Sophia (BANKS) MILLS. Also see article from the "Interior Journal", Stanford, KY Jan. 2, 1953.
The following was composed from information found online at Google Books in a publication entitled "A Twentieth century history of southwest Texas, Volume 2". By Lewis Publishing Company. Pages 374-376. See note at end of quotation.
"William Mills (grandfather to Green W. Mills - the subject of a prior paragraph) was born in North Carolina but moved to Kentucky, and became a pioneer of Pulaski County. He was a hatter by trade for a number of years, moved to Missouri in 1841, near Palmyra, and lived there for four years until he moved to Jackson County, Texas in 1845, where he died the following year. He married Sophia P. Banks, daughter of distiguished Revolutionary War soldier, Lynn Banks.
"Lynn Banks commanded a regiment as it's colonel, at the Battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. He was then promoted to Brigadier General and served under General George Washington. He moved with his family from Virginia to Kentucky, and became a pioneer settler of Lancaster. He died in September 1799.
"One of Lynn's sons, William Banks, served as a major in the War of 1812. Edward Mills, a brother of William Mills, also served in the War of 1812 and was killed in the Battle of New Orleans, January 8, 1815.
"William Mills and Sophia (Banks) Mills raised a large family. Their children are named as: Henry P., James L., Edward, William G., Richmond, Samuel F., Keziah, Letitia and Elizabeth. The publication then recounts information about the six sons of William and Sophia, and grandson Green W. Mills.
"Henry P. Mills, the oldest son, went to Texas in March 1836, commanding a group of eighty Kentucky soldiers. The group met up with Fannin at Goliad, Texas, where he and his troup were surrounded by Mexican soldiers, narrowly escaping death, but were taken prisoner and forced to witness the massacre of Fannin and his men. Subsequently, Henry P. Mills served in the Texas army, rose to the rank of major, and died in service, in 1838. His heirs (names not mentioned) were given two tracts of land in Wharton and Jackson counties.
"James L. Mills, who was present with brother Henry at the Fannin massacre, is listed in 1841 as a member of Captain Henry E. McCulloch's company, was in the engagement at Plum Creek, afterwords joining the Mier expedition. He was among those captured and taken to Mexico, escaped and was re-captured, only to be returned to Mexico, where he worked for two years on a chain gang at Castle Perote. He was then "exchanged" and returned to Texas, where he settled on a farm in Gonzales County.
"Edward Mills came to Texas in 1838 and spent most of his life in Jackson County.
"William G. Mills was a life-long resident of Kentucky and worked in Lebanon for forty years in the livery business.
"Richmond Mills lived all of his life in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
"Samuel F. Mills was raised in Kentucky. At the age of 19 he enlisted in Company H, 4th Kentucky Infantry for the Mexican War. He took part in numerous engagements, including the Battle of Cerro Gordo, and spent ten months on garrison duty in Mexico City, Mexico. After the war ended, he returned to the old Kentucky home, residing there until 1872. In that year he moved to Caldwell County, Texas, spending the remainder of his life in that county, till he died in August 1896. He was married to Mary S. Woodcock, born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, and daughter of Stephen Woodcock and Sally Zachary. Mary died in 1873. Samuel and Mary's children are: William - died in infancy, David - died at age 19, Green W., Keziah S., Richmond R., Nannie - died at age 9, Robert B. - died at age 27, and Sally G.
"Green W. Mills (subject of the article) and son of Samuel F. Mills and Mary S. Woodcock, was the third-oldest child, and went to Texas as a young man, with his family. At age 18 he started work as a drover, driving cattle for seven years, from Kansas to Nebraska. He afterward engaged in farming for twenty years. In 1894 he was elected cotton weigher, and then elected justice of the peace for Precinct 1 Lockhart. In 1882 he married Mary J. Whittenberg, born in Bell County, Texas, daughter of Jacob W. Whittenberg and Roselle Miller. This publication lists one child for the couple: Roger Q. Mills.
***Note: Please note that the military information found in this publication has not yet been substantiated, so there is a definite possibility that some of it is incorrect. (In particular, I have not seen any historical references to Lynn Banks serving as a Brigadier General.) The Edward Mills mentioned above, that was killed in the Battle of New Orleans, was actually half-brother to William Mills, according to author Jane Pritchett Banks (references found on pages 19 and 23 of her book, The Banks Family). According to the author, her grandmother, who was Elizabeth (Mills) Banks, was very much attached to her half-brother, who she always referred to as "Little Eddie Mills". Eddie was the son of Edward Mills and his second wife, Jennie (maiden name unknown). Eddie is stated to have been last seen as he went into the Battle of New Orleans, which of course does coincide with the above info on him. As to the date of death given here for Lynn Banks, we know this is incorrect, as he signed his will in December of 1799.4,3,5 Edward C. Mills Sr. and Keziah Pritchett were Episcopalian, later joing eh Methodists.3

As to the date of death given here for Lynn Banks, we know this is incorrect, as he signed his will in December of 1799.3,2,4 Keziah Pritchett and Edward C. Mills Sr. were Episcopalian, later joing eh Methodists.2
