John Charles Hart, age 64, of Johnson, Kansas, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his home in Johnson, Kansas. He was born March 30, 1952 in Elkhart, Kansas, the son of Marshall E. and Bramlett Pauline (Carter) Hart.
John was a graduate of Stanton County High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973. He then served in the Naval Reserves for three more years. He married Mary Mitchell on September 23, 1972 in Jacksonville, Florida. They moved to Johnson in December 1973. His family was important to him and he enjoyed watching his kids in all their activities. He was active in the community and offered a helping hand wherever he could. John was in charge of the community fireworks display for 10 years, served on the Stanton County Fire Department for 34 years, was a member of the Johnson VFW Post #3684, and a member of the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church. John drove the school and activity bus for Stanton County High School for many years. After retiring from the school, he was a parts manager for Teeter Irrigation. He was also the owner of Hart Electric. He and Mary were foster parents for over 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of their home; sons, John Hart Jr. and wife Amy of Ellicott, Colorado, Marshall Hart and wife Shayla of Syracuse, Kansas; daughter, Julie Hart-Moore and husband Justin Moore of Topeka, Kansas; siblings, Marcia Burke and husband Dale of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Paul Hart and wife Peggy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Philip Hart and wife Sally of Taylor, Nebraska, Anna Branstine of Johnson, Kansas, Julia Hernandez and husband Julian of Glendale, Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Dalton, Joyia, Austyn, Kaylin, K.C., Reece, Jason, Shelby, Sheldon, and Bennett.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Reverend Kurt Rovenstine presiding. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas with military rites and fireman rites conducted. Friends may call Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society for Merkel Cell Carcinoma Cancer Research in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.

Mary owned and operated Rinky Dink Café and also an upholstery shop which she really enjoyed. Mary's pride and joy were her grandchildren.
