BIRTH 1848, Lebanon, St. Clair County, Illinois, USA
DEATH 4 Mar 1914 (aged 65–66), San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA
Passport application by son showing fathers death in Texas.
Dr. A. G. Lowe, 60 years old, a retired physician, who had devoted the last four years of his life to service of the poor, destitute and suffering people in Mexico, made so by the almost continuous warfare in that country, died at 11 o 'clock Monday night at a hospital here. Dr. Lowe had been in San Antonio about two weeks, coming here from Mexico.
As the physician was of a retiring disposition he told but little of his life to people at the hospital. His ability as a physician, however, was recognized. He never received pay for his services. In fact, it is said he spent a small fortune for charitable purposes in Mexico, where at present a big field for charity is presented. His life there was spent in a lowly, unostentatious manner. The hardships which he experienced at last told upon his weakened constitution and, broken in health, he finally sought medical treatment at a sanitarium here.
The body is being held by Sloan & Hagy, undertakers, pending the arrival of the brother from Kansas San Antonio Light May 5, 1914
Seventh of twelve children born to George Franklin Lowe and Martha Ann Phillips Lowe. Married Harriet Cameron. Three children.
