Joseph Platt was born on 8 September 1677 at Huntington, Suffolk Co., New York, USA.1
     ; From Jacobus:
[Quote]Platt, Isaac, s. of Richard. Recorder at Huntington, 1687; Capt. of Militia.
Born [say 1638]; d. at Huntington, L. I., 31 July 1691; m. Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Jonas ''of Oram.'' He did not, as so often stated, m. (1) at Milford, 12 Mar. 1640, Phebe Smith. No marriages were entered in either town or church records there of so early a date; and the statement is obviously due to carelessness in confusing him with another Isaac Platt of Milford who did m. Phebe Smith, but on 12 Mar. 1740, just a century later.
Children, rec. Huntington, L. I.:
     1. Elizabeth, b. 15 Sept. 1665; m. John Wood, of Huntington.
     2. XJonas, b. 16 Aug. 1667; m. Sarah Scudder, and had a family; of whom the sons Obadiah and Timothy rem. to Fairfield and will appear in the second volume of the present work. Other sons mentioned in printed sources were Jesse and Isaac. Sarah Platt who m. at Fairfield, 17 Jan. 1734, Elias Bates, was possibly a dau. of Jonas.
     3. John, b. 29 June 1669.
     4. Mary, b. 26 Oct. 1674.
     5. Joseph, b. 8 Sept. 1677.
     6. Jacob, b. 29 Sept. 1682.[End Quote]2
