Possibly a daughter of Anne and John Butler of Cusop, Herfordshire England; unproven.
(1) Widow of Samuel (aka Samuel William) Robords/Roberts. They had 3 known sons; William Roberts, Deacon Samuel Roberts III and John Roberts Sr.
(2) Married unknown Leete/Leeke/Leite They had no issue.
(3) Married Thomas Whitmore 8 October 1673 at Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut. She was his third wife. They had three known children; Benjamin Whitmore, Abigail Whitmore and Hannah Whitmore.
Her Roberts children were born prior to her Whitmore children; thus she would be the "widow Whitmore" at her death.
As early as 1673 we find her with her three Roberts sons. Whether they came to New England with her, or were born here has not been determined, but we do know that she married Thomas Whitmore, Sr under the name of Leete or Leeke in Middletown, Ct. on 8 Oct 1673. [It is reasoned that she married "Leite" between marriages to Roberts and Whitmore; otherwise, why would they use the surname Leite on her marriage record to Whitmore?]
Her will is dated 14 Aug 1688. It was witnessed by John Hall, Sr and Beriah Wetmore. The inventory of her estate taken 26 Oct 1693 amounted to about 108 pounds. Her signature is made with her mark. It was proved 26 Oct 1693. One reference reports that her maiden name WAS Butler.
The real proof that Katherine was a Butler is found in the Will of William Pennoyer, Esq. 25 May 1670, proved 13 Feb 1670. NEHGR Vol.45 pages 158-9. Page 159 states, in part:
"To Katherine Butler alias Roberts, sister to the aforesaid Evan Butler, five pounds to be paid to her own hands."
(There was a Thomas Butler, Evan Butler and Katherine Butler attributed as children of "Anne and John Butler" on various family trees and wills cited.)

Mary Youngs was born in 1624 to Rev. John Youngs. She married Daniel Scofield I, the immigrant ancestor of the Scofields of America. There has been a debate on the first name of Daniel's wife. The abstract of Daniel Scofield's will does NOT list his wife's name, but does list his children. Sarah Scofield is Daniel's oldest daughter and the first child listed after "Widow".
In 1908, the second reunion of the Association of Descendants of Andrew Ward produced the following bio:
"Daniel Scofield, The founder and first marshal, received December 7. 1641, a two-acre homelot and woodland. He died in 1671. He was a man of note in private and civil life. His widow. MARY, married Miles Merwin of Milford, Conn., his third venture It is said that the Duchess of Marlborough (Lilly Price Hammersley comes from this same Scofield family, of Scofield Manor, Rochdale, Lancashire, England. The late General John McAllister Scofield wrote a personal letter over a quarter of a century ago, and in referring to my family traditions he said: "I come from the same ancestors; these traditions are all familiar ones to me." He was in command at West Point, a very fine officer and a scholar of high standing. Ex-Governor Scofield of Wisconsin, Rev. C. I. Scofield of Northfield, Mass.. General Alexander Stewart Webb, Walter Webb of the New York Central. William Stewart Webb, and eminent writers, lawyers and statesmen are from this same Daniel Scofield stock."
In the History of Stamford Connecticut From its settlement to the present time by Rev E. B. Huntington in 1868 stated: "Scofield, Daniel, received Dec. 7, 1641, two acres, homelot and woodland, as the first company. He died in 1671. His children were Daniel, John, Richard, Joseph, Sarah the wife of John Petit, and Mary. His widow MARY, became the third wife of Miles Merwin. The son Joseph suffered so much from hardships in King Phillip's war as to lose his life in 1676, giving his estate to his brothers and sisters. His will, dated Sept. 4, 1664, gives to his wife one-third the estate, with use of the house for her life time; to his daughter Sarah five pounds; and to her two children five pounds; and to the other four children, Daniel, John, Joseph, and Mercy, the rest of the estate. His wife and two of the sons, Daniel and John, were made executors."
In the Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut (1911) vol II page 708 "Daniel Scofield…married Mary, dau of Rev John Youngs."
In Ye Historie of Ye Town of Greenwich County of Fairfield and State of Connecticut by Spenser P. Mead, L.L.B.(1911) pg 643 : "Daniel Scofield … died 1669[sic]. His widow, Mary, daughter of Rev. John Youngs of Southold, L. I…."
SARA VS MARY
The confusion of Daniel's wife's name is acerbated by the fact that Miles Merwin's second wife was "Sara" as shown on his tombstone. This was compounded by the claim in the Washington Ancestry published in 1932 vol 1 pg 220 "Daniel's widow, Sarah, married again and removed to Milford, Connecticut, while Richard's widow, Mary, remarried Robert Penoyer……." Stamford Vital Records list Sarah as the widow of Daniel Scofield that remarried Miles Merwin. Harriett Scofield's "A Scofield Survey", stated "Daniel ... Married Sarah, last name not known".

Death Jan 1670 (aged 55–56), Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA

Plot Unknown as no grave marker remains.
He was the son of Alexander Scofield. He married Sarah Mary Youngs about 1645, by whom he had several children. Sarah was born circa 1615 in England and after Daniel's death in 1669, she married again on 30 November 1670 to Miles Merwin. She died on 5 March 1698, but her burial place is unknown; it is believed to be in Milford, Connecticut.
"Compendium", Vol. 7 pages 383 & 895 says: "Daniel Scofield (ca 1595-1669); a grandson of Sir Cuthbert Scofield of Scofield Manor; from England 1628 to Ipswich, Massachusetts to Wethersfield, Conn; to Stamford 1640 m. Mary Young (Rev. John of Southold, Long Island) Young (Younges), Rev. John (1598-1671) son of Rev. Christopher Younges, Vicar of Reydon & Southwold, Eng.); came Salem, Mass in the "Mary Anne", 1637; founder of Southold, L.I. 1640 & 1st pastor of Presbyterian Church; m. 1622, Joan Herrington (d.1630); m. 2nd Joan Harris; m. 3rd 1639 Mary Warren Gardner (d. 1678)"
“Daniel Scofield was born in the village of Hipperholme.”
As you will note, the compendium only mentions the grandfather of Daniel Scofield. This is because Sir Cuthbert Scofield was not married to the mother of his son Alexander Scofield, the father of Daniel Scofield. Sir Cuthbert was first married to Ann, the daughter of Sir John Byron (poet). They divorced and he cohabited with Joney Langley. They had two illegitimate boys, Daniel and Richard Scofield.
Daniel Scofield and his brother, Richard Scofield, sailed from Ipswich, England on the 'Susan & Ellen' in 1635 when Richard was 22 yrs old. Daniel Scofield is not listed on the passenger list. "Richard settled at Ipswich, Mass 1641-52 and came to Stamford in a latter year." (See Ancestry of Washington & Allied Families, [The Washington Ancestry: and records of the McClain, Johnson, and Forty Other Colonial American Families] Vol 3 by Hoppin). First record of Daniel in America was when as a founder of Stamford, Conn, he was granted a "home lot" there 7 Dec 1641. Daniel's will dated 4 Sept 1669 was entered for probate "7 mo. 1669/1770".
Richard and Daniel Scofield are the immigrant ancestor of the Scofield American branch. D. Fairchild Wheeler's Report of the Second Triennial Reunion of the Association of Descendants of Andrew Ward At the First Congregational Church of Stamford, (1908): Page 11: "Daniel Scofield. The founder and first marshal, received December 7, 1641, a two-acre homelot and woodland. He died in 1671. He was a man of note in private and civil life. His widow, Mary, married Miles Merwin of Milford, Conn., (his third venture). It is said that the Dutchess of Marlborough (Lilly Price Hammersley) comes from the same Scofield family, of Scofield Manor Rochdale, Lancashire, England. The late General John McAllister Scofield wrote a personal letter over a quarter of a century ago, and in referring to my family traditions he said: "I come from the same ancestors: these traditions are all familiar ones to me." He was in command of West Point, a very fine officer and a scholar of high standing. Ex-Governor Scofield of Wisconsin, Rev. C. I. Scofield of Northfield, Mass, General Alexander Stewart Webb, and eminent writers, lawyers, and statesmen are from this same Daniel Scofield stock"
History of Stamford, Connecticut, From Its Settlement in 1641 to the Present Time, including Darien, Rev. E. B. Huntington, A. M. (1868): Pg 41.
"SCOFiELD, Daniel, received, Dec. 7, 1641, two acres, homelot and woodland, as the first company. He died in 1671. His children were Daniel, John, Richard, Joseph, Sarah the wife of John Pettit, and Mary. His widow Mary, became the third wife ot Miles Merwin. The son Joseph suflered so much from hardships in King Philip's war as to lose his life in 1676, giving his estate to his brothers and sisters. His will, dated Sept.4,1664, gives to his wife one-third the estate, with use of the house for her life time ; to his daughter Sarah, five pounds ; and to her two children five pounds; and to the other four children, Daniel, John, Jeseph [Joseph], and Mercy, the rest of the estate. His wife and two of the sons, Daniel and John, were made executors."
Daniel Scofield was born in the village of Hipperholme in the ancient parish of Halifax, Yorkshire (West Riding), England, presumably within a month prior to his baptism in St. John the Baptist Church, Halifax, 10 April 1614. His parents were Richard Scofield, probable son of Oswald and Alice (Barowcloughe) Scofield, and Richard's wife, Effam/Effan Northend, daughter of Henry and Effam (Lister) Northend of Northowram (also in Halifax parish, two miles from Hipperholme); Effam Lister's father was Richard Lister (Louis G. Ogden and Brent M. Owen, "The English Origins of Richard1 Scofield, Daniel1 Scofield, and John1 Northend of Stamford, Connecticut," _Connecticut Ancestry_ 59:3[Feb. 2017]:81–100).
No marriage record has been found for Daniel, and since only one of his children's baptisms is recorded (Mercy, "latter end" of November 1657), estimating even a year of marriage would be pure speculation. It is certain, however, that the maiden name of Daniel's wife, Sarah, was not Youngs (see James Raywalt, "The Identity of Sarah, Wife of Daniel Scofield and Miles Merwin — Still a Mystery," _New England Historical and Genealogical Register_ 152(1998):179–83). There is evidence that Sarah's maiden name might have been Graves (see Fred C. Hart Jr., _Ancestry of William Weed of Stamford and Darien, Connecticut_ [Broomfield, Colo., 2009], 22–25, at 24–25).
Daniel Scofield died probably within a month prior to 10 12th month [February] 1669[/70], when his estate inventory was taken; it was presented at probate court on 7 1st month [March] 1669/70 (Fairfield District Probate, 2:49–50). Daniel's will, dated 4 September 1669, was probated on 10 March 1669/70 (ibid., 2:50).
The Hale Collection of Connecticut Cemetery Inscriptions has no listing for Daniel Scofield in North Stamford Cemetery or elsewhere.

"Richard settled at Ipswich, Mass 1641-52 and came to Stamford in a latter year." Chistopher Comstock son of (William) was born about 1635; died Norwalk, Connecticut December 28, 1702; married October 6, 1663 to Hannah Platt who was born in Milford, Connecticut October 1, 1643; baptized there on October 6, 1643; and died in Milford, Connecticut, after 1713. She was the daughter of Richard and Mary Platt of Milford. Christopher came from England and settled in Fairfield, Connecticut, in 1654. (Hinman, Early Puritan Settlers). He later lived in Norwalk. His will, dated Norwalk, December 22, 1701, proved January 4, 1702-3, gives portions of his estate to wife Hannah; to son Moses when 21; to son Samuel; to daughter Hannah Comstock; to daughter Mercy Comstock; to grandson Daniel; his wife and son Samuel were named executors. Two of his daughters, Mary & Elizabeth married St John brothers.
On May 29, 1654, Christopher Comstock made affidavit about visiting good wife Knapp who was charged with witchcraft. She was executed. His wife Knapp was hung in 1653 when Christopher was about 18. (He was not involved in her conviction or execution.)
On January 27, 1661, Christopher, then of Fairfield, bought land of Thomas Betts.
Christopher Comstock of Norwalk was nominated for freedman October 10, 1667. On October 14, 1686, Christopher was a deputy to the General Court. September 19, 1692, he was a member of a grand jury for witches. (See History of Stratford, page 152.) On January 16, 1694, he was one of a committee "to look out for and obtain a faithful minister" for Norwalk.
Family History:

In 1740, who gave it to her brother Moses, who gave it to his daughter Hannah, who married Phineas Hanford. She gave it to her granddaughter Hanna Hanford who married William Richards. The book then passed into the hands of William Richards, Jr., and now (1907) belongs to his daughter, Mrs. Charles Saylor. Children all born in Norwalk.

MOSES, born May 4, 1685; died Norwalk, Connecticut, January 18, 1766; married February 23, 1709-10 Abigail Brinsmade.
The second part of the biography of Christopher is from page 683 of the Catalogue of the Names of the First Puritan Settlers of the Colony of Connecticut – 1852. by Royal Ralph Hinman. Hinman says Christopher brought with him from England a silver tankard with his coat of arms upon it. His great-grandson, Major Samuel Comstock, gave it to the church at Wilton, Connecticut, and it was melted up. Christopher as a sergeant in the Colonial Militia.
COMSTOCK, CHRISTOPHER, of Fairfield and Norwalk, his descendants say, came from England about 1652, and settled at Fairfield about 1654, where he remained until 1661 or 1662. January 27, 1661, he was of Fairfield when he purchased the house and home-lot of Thomas Betts, of Norwalk, which had previously been owned by Nathaniel Eli. He probably moved on to his new purchase property soon after, at Norwalk, where he was reputable man and useful settler. No evidence is found which shows that he was a relative either of John, of Lyme (Connecticut), William of New London (Connecticut), or Samuel, of Rhode Island. He married Hannah, daughter of Richard Platt, of Milford, October 6, 1663. After he located at Norwalk, about 1671, he was appointed at Norwalk to keep and ordinary, (hotel) to entertain strangers. On January 16, 1694, he was one of a committee of ten of the inhabitants of Norwalk, and commissioned for the town "to look out for and obtain a faithful minister for the town," etc. In 1687, his estate of commonage in Norwalk, accepted by the town, was £201, 10s. He is sometimes called Sergeant Comstock.

Hannah Comstock Fenn, daughter of Christopher, bought a bible in 1732 dated 1727 for 2 pounds, 15 shillings, which she say she "yearned in her youth." In 1740, who gave it to her brother Moses, who gave it to his daughter Hannah, who married Phineas Hanford. She gave it to her granddaughter Hanna Hanford who married William Richards. The book then passed into the hands of William Richards, Jr., and now (1907) belongs to his daughter, Mrs. Charles Saylor. Children all born in Norwalk.
CHILDREN:
DANIEL, born July 21, 1664; died 1694; married June 30, 1692 Elizabeth Wheeler.
HANNAH, born July 15, 1666; married ______ Fenn.

Joseph Platt of Milford, New Haven, Connecticut was from a long line of Platt ancestors who broke new trails and opened the territory for other. The Platts originally settled in Hertfordshire, England and then migrated to the New World in 1639 and founded New Haven and Milford communities. Joseph's father was Deacon Richard Platt and his mother was Mary Wood. Joseph received a generous bequest in his father's will. "I give my son Joseph Platt all the remainder of my estate, housing, barnes, lands, meadows, corne, cattle, horses, mares, sheep, hogs, movables, he paying the legacyes above named & debts. I make my son Joseph Platt my executor of this my last Will."
He was born in 1649 and was christened at the 1st Congregational Church of Milford on 1 April 1649. He married Mary Kellogg on 5 May 1680. In Richard's younger days he and a group of young men (George Clark, Joseph Northrup, Samuel Clark included) destroyed the Wepawaug Indians fort in 1671 as part of a silly prank. According to the record, it was done "with the utmost secrecy, at dead of night," and probably was vacant at the time. Their purpose in destroying the fort is not recorded. The young men were tried before the general court at New Haven and fined 10 pounds and afterward rebuilt their fort.
Joseph was Lieutenant of the "eldest Train Band" at Milford, October 1698. He was Deputy from Milford to the Connecticut General Assembly May 1700. No will of Joseph is on record. His death date is usually given as 1703/1704, although the Kellogg genealogy says he died before 10 November 1703. Inventory was taken 21 March 1703/1704; Josiah Platt was one of the appraisers. Joseph's widow Mary and his son Joseph appointed administrators. Only oldest daughter Mary was of age. Joseph, the oldest son and his father's administrator, was still a minor. Other sons mentioned: Samuel, Epenetus, Gideon.

Deacon Richard Platt and Mary Wood of Hertfordshire immigrated after 31 May 1637 to New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA;
Per Liptrap PLATT Family Page: "Richard and Mary left England 31 May 1637 and settled in Quinnipiac, Connecticut (renamed New Haven Apr 1638), and was one of the founders of Milford in 1639."
Per Platt [1891:14]: "...Richard Platt came to this country in 1638, and landed at New Haven. In the records of the colony of New Haven we read that Richard Platt had eighty-four acres of land in and around New Haven. In the Milford records we read that he was enrolled among its first settlers, Nov. 20, 1639, having four in his family. "He had probably brought with him from England his children, Mary, John, Isaac and Sarah; for his first child baptized in Milford, by the record, was Epenetus, July 12, 1640.
