  • Capt Henry Heinrich Shepler+; Freeland argues that "The most likely parents of Captain Henry Shepler of Berks County are William and Susanna (--?--) Shepler who were living near the head of the Little Swatara Creek in April 1758. This William later moved to Hampshire County, Virginia, and mentioned his deceased brother, Henry Shepler, in his will in Hampshire County in 1778. There is no evidence to establish that Henry and Catharina Barbara (Rieth) Shepler of Hampshire County, Virginia were the parents of Captain Henry Shepler of Berks County. The origin of this mistaken lineage was speculation by Alice Gruber, another descendant of Captain Henry, who authored "The Mickleys, the Dunns, and Related Families." Henry and Catharina Barbara (Rieth) Shepler of Hampshire County, Virginia, al!
most certainly did have a son named Henry, but he was listed on 23 May 1776 as a deserter from Captain Abel Westfall's Company, 8th Virginia Regiment."
