(Gilbert Cope's notes on Green Family, page 159 in Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania)
Thomas Green, with Margaret his wife, sons Thomas and John, and daughter Mary, with her husband, Richard Moore, were passengers on the ship Delaware, from Bristol, England, which arrived at Philadelphia on the 5th Mo. 1686. The Court records show that Thomas Green purchased 200 acres of land in Concord Township, (now) Delaware County, in 1689, and 100 in 1691, from the attorney Dennis Rochford, to whom 400 acres had been located in that township. A memorandum, from a forgotten source is as follows:
"Old Thomas Green bought of Dennis Rochford 400 acres in Concord 8 Mo. 6, 1691, and gave 200 acres at the east end to his son Thomas, and 200 acres at the west end to his son John. "John Green made his will dated Dec. 14, 1691, and proven 16 May, 1695; in which he gave all his estate to his mother, Margaret Green, whom he appointed his executrix".
Whether any deeds passed from father to sons is unknown, none being recorded, but a plot of resurvey of the township, made about 1703, shows the land in possession of Margaret Green at one end and of Thomas Green at the other, with no division line between them.
That John Green did not mention his father in his will might lead to the inference that the latter died between 8th Mo. (Oct.) 6th 1691, and Dec. 14th of the same year, but that is uncertain. In the will of Margaret Green, 1708, she refers to a legacy left by her husband to their son Robert. As no evidence has been discovered of the presence in this country of this son there is some reason to suppose that Thomas Green left property in England and that his will was either left or sent there for probate. Some conveyances noticed in the court records of 1694, in which the Greens, George Strode and John Neals (Nield) figure, cannot be fully understood without further light.
It appears that Margaret Green and her son Thomas mortgaged their Concord lands in 1698/9, and it is inferred that Thier interest in the lands terminated before the death of Margaret Green, they having conveyed 200 acres to John Moore in 1707.
Margaret Green died between the 7th of September and 6th of October 1708.
Children of Thomas and Margaret Green
2. Mary Green m. in England Richard Moore - arrived in Pennsylvania with 2 children, lived in Concord next to Thomas Green; husband died Abt. 1695. She m. Joseph Cloud. He obtained patent for land Birmingham Twp. 1713. He and wife conveyed to Sarah Green, widow of Thomas Green, Jr. by lease and release May 2d & 3d 1715.
3. Thomas Green, Jr. married Sarah ______ perhaps Searle, his fellow passenger on the voyage to America. The fact of her coming as a servant was doubtless simply a scheme to get the 50 acres of land which William Penn had promised to all who came as servants. Thomas Green was heir to a half of the land purchased by his father, but probably disposed of it about 1707, after which he appears to located on the land of his brother-in-law, Joseph Cloud, in Birmingham. In his will, dated Feby. 17, 1712, he describes himself as of Chester County, and his death occurred prior to August 10, 1713, less than six months after the date of the will, - the year beginning then on March 25th. After his death Joseph Cloud and wife Mary, by deeds of May 2d and 3d 1715, conveyed the land, 150 acres, to Sarah Green, widow of Thomas. At a meeting of the Commissioners of Property 10th of 4th month 1713: - "Sarah Green, widow of Thomas Green, late of Birmingham, in Chester County, desiring to purchase 225 acres of Land on the North East Branch of Octeraroe, agrees with Secretary for the same at $12 &c, to be paid in

Thomas and Margaret arrived in Virginia from Bristol England with their children and two servants, Mary Guest and Sarah Searle. In 1689 Thomas Bought 200 Acres in Concord Township, Chester Co. PA., and another 200 acres in the same place on Oct. 6, 1691 for the attorney of Dennis Rockford. He evidently died circa Nov. 1691, and in 1703 the 400 acres was owned jointly by his widow Margaret and his son Thomas. Margaret mad her will Sept. 7, 1708 leaving property to children, and the will was probated Oct 6, 1708.
