Eliza, Esther, Hannah, and grandchildren. ---------------------- Milesburg Furnace, Miles and Green Having experienced much trouble with the operation of Centrefurnace, the Miles brothers, whose homes were at Milesburg, determined toconstruct a furnace near 'Harmony' forge. With the assistance of JosephGreen, who was an expert carpenter, in the days when these words meantsomething, they laid the foundations of a new plant in the Milesburg gapin 1817 and put 'Milesburg' furnace in blast in the following year. Therworks were then run under the name of 'Miles & Co.', Joseph Green havingobtained an interest therein. He was attempting to connect this Joseph to my Thomas Green III, but seems to have since found a different link. On speaking to Charles W. Green, he says his Green's came from New Jersey originally. Joseph Green died in the spring of this year. He was a promi- ment citizen of the Valley, and on of its first settlers. He resided first where Benjamin Thompson, junior, lives, east of Mifflinburg, then built the mill of late known as Bellas', which was sold from him. He then removed some distance up Penn's creek, and built a saw-mill, where he died. He was buried in the Lewis grave-yard. His first wife's name was Margaret, and his second was Mary. He was a surveyor, and dealt largely in lands. Was prominent in the rev- olutionary struggle. His first wife died in 1783, and in 1784 he married a widow, Mary Irvin. His children were; Elizabeth, mar- ried to Henry Shively; her daughters, Margaret, married Jesse Mat- thews; Elizabeth, Ephraim McMullan; Sarah, Eli Landis; and one was married to Robert Barber. Alice Green married James McCoy. Joseph Green's sons were; John, Timothy, Joseph, William, Tho- mas, George, and General Abbot. The sons all went West, except General Abbot. John went to Louisiana, and one of his sons was in Congress from that State, some years ago. Joseph Green's widow had a son, James Irvin. -------------------------------------------- Joseph Green- member of Buffalo Cross Roads Presbyterian Church. 1791 rented Pew 12. She was preceded indeath by one daughter, Florence Goldstein; one son, Robert Wildnauer; threesisters, Edith Hall, Frances Haverstein, and Elsie Shoefstahl; and two brothers,James Reuben Green and William E. Green. She was the last member of herimmediate family. She was a resident of St. Marys for 45 years and lived with her daughter Anna Belle Wall for nine years. She was a retired employee ofPure Carbon. She was a member of the St. Marys Eagle Aux. and the St. Mary'sAltar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. BonifaceChurch, Kersey, on Tursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. SHE DIED ON SATURDAY EVENING IN THE EXTENDED CARE UNIT OF THE ANDREW KAUL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A LENGTHY ILLNESS. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WAS CELEBRATED IN ST. BONILACE CHURCH, KERSEY ON TUESDAY A 11 A.M. BURRIAL FOLLOWED IN THE PARISH CEMETERY. 'SHE LIVED ON SOUTH ST. MARYS STREET'. LILLIAN DECKER - Mon. Sept. 11, 1989 Lillian R. Decker, 96, died Saturday evening in the Extended Care Unit ofthe Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was bornMay 30, 1893 in Milesburg, daughter of the late William and Arminta ShopeGreen. She married JohnWildnauer in 1990, who died on October 11, 1938. Shemarried Joseph A. Decker on January 24, 1942, who died on October 9, 1956. She is survived by four daughters, Helen, Mrs. George Meyer, Elizabeth, Mrs.Francis Bleggi, and Mary L. Gerg, all of St. Marys, and Anna Belle Wall of Dagus Mines; one son, Stanley Wildnauer of Dagus Mines; 20 grandchildren; 56great grandchildren; and 20 great great grandchildren. She was preceded indeath by one daughter, Florence Goldstein; one son, Robert Wildnauer; threesisters, Edith Hall, Frances Haverstein, and Elsie Shoefstahl; and two brothers,James Reuben Green and William E. Green. She was the last member of herimmediate family. She was a resident of St. Marys for 45 years and lived with her daughter Anna Belle Wall for nine years. She was a retired employee ofPure Carbon. She was a member of the St. Marys Eagle Aux. and the St. Mary'sAltar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. BonifaceChurch, Kersey, on Tursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home Mondayfrom 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ExtendedCare Unit of the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital or the charity of the donorschoice.1
