Chester Co. PA, selling land to sons William and Joseph in West Nantmill (note: I have a photocopy of this deed) ------------------------------ There are records in the Chester County Archives, West Chester, PA pertaining to a Thomas Green of East Caln, dying intestate in 1773, and Lewis Weiss was bonded 11 Jan. 1773 to be the executor of ThomasGreen's estate. Evidently Lewis Weiss never got around to it, (perhapsbecause of the Rev. War) as he was cited to appear in 1793 at the OrphansCourt, on behalf of Thomas Green's son Thomas. 'The Petition of Thomas Green eldest son & heir at law of Thomas Green late of East Caln --- Township in the sd. County decd.' (I have a photocopy of the 1773 and 1793 petitions) (NOTE: If the deceased above is ' Thomas III, late of East Caln, deceased', (son of Thomas II, & Sarah Searle), then this Thomas III, musthave had a son Thomas IV, but no one has indicated this to me.) Nancy Benson's notes, say - 'Inhabitants in the township of Boggs (CentreCo. PA) in 1815 included William Fisher (saw mill), James, Joseph,Samuel, and Thomas Green. Single freeman Samuel Green.' Could this ThomasGreen be 'Thomas Green IV'? I do have record of a Thomas Green of East Caln twp. having sons Josephand William (land transaction in West Nantmill) I have no record of Thomas Green having son Isaac, but the tavern recordsgo from Thomas Green, and the very next year to an Isaac Green. Also.....In Isaac Green's Will (Chester Co. Archives, West Chester, PA) Isaacmentions a brother Joseph. Also on Isaac's Estate settlement, by wifeMary, there is this...... 'by two insolvent notes on Thomas Green', - so most likely there is a relationship between Isaac and this Thomas Green, but could this Thomas be a brother to Isaac, not a father, as Isaac's presumed father died in 1773. Also, The Thomas whom died intestate in 1773, had a son Thomas who petitioned the courts to settle his father's estate. Are there unrelated Thomas Green's in East Caln Twp? Why wasn't one of Thomas Green's sons appointed executor of estate, instead of Lewis Weiss? Was it because Thomas died intestate, and Weisswas appointed? or were all of Thomas Green's sons busy with the impendingwar? (Rev. War, 1775-1783) Are there any record that my give clues to the ages of Thomas Green's sons Joseph and William? -------------------------------------- Did one of my Thomas Green's live in Philadelphia, PA?
