Salazar y Acha does not discuss the possibilities, presuming this link to the great-great-grandfather was the source of the name, but of the four great-grandmothers of the child, only two are known by name and none are of known parentage (and one, it should be mentioned, Oria, wife of Fortun Garces, has herself been suggested as a bint Qasi, more closely related to the later queen of Asturias). At any rate, it was Sancho and Toda who gave rise to the first extended cluster of Urracas. Their daughter of that name was wife of Ramiro II and mother of Sancho the Fat of Leon. Her brother Garcia Sanchez I had a daughter Urraca who appears to be the woman of that name who married Fernan Gonzalez as his second wife and then married William Sancho of Gascony. A third sibling, Sancha, married in sequence Ordono II, Alvaro Herrameliz and Fernan Gonzalez (first wife). By this last, she had a daughter Urraca who married Ordono III and Ordono IV, who she divorced in 961, and then is said to have married again. Given that Sancho II Abarca of Navarre had as wife a Urraca Fernandez, it is uniformly accepted that his wife was the former queen of Leon. (I should point out, though, that the chronology would also allow her to be 969 wife of Aznar Purcelliz, above - the two solutions are mutually exclusive as Sancho first appears with wife Urraca in December 970, while Aznar died after 978. That the Infanta Elvira called Aznar her uncle does not help, as she was full sister of Sancho the Fat and daughter of Urraca Sanchez of Navarre, and hence a kinswoman either way.) [end quote]³
