“Belló, probably a Visigoth, was the first known count of Carcassonne. He was probably born to a noble family of Conflent (possibly the son of Siegebert V, count of Razes) which was loyal to the Carolingians.
“Tradition has placed Belló at the head of the Bellonid dynasty named after him, which reached its apex in Wifredo I 'el Velloso' ('the Hairy'), conde de Barcelona, himself usually regarded as the progenitor of the House of Barcelona.
“Belló was said to have had four sons: Guisclafred, his successor in Carcassonne; Sunifred I, count of Barcelona; Oliva I, count of Carcassonne and Sunyer I of Ampurias, count of Empuries. However there has been some debate over the origins of Sunifred I, Oliva I and Sunyer.
“Belló is mentioned in 812, which may have been close to the year of his death. When Belló died, his sons partitioned his domains between them, according to the eldest the chief city of Carcassonne. He was succeeded after a short reign by his brother Oliva.”.2

Oliba Cabreta (ca. 920 – Montecassino, 990) was the count of Cerdanya from 965 and count of Besalú from 984 until his abdication in 988. He was the fourth son of Miró II and Ava. He inherited Cerdanya from his eldest brother Sunifred II and Besalú from his elder brother Miró III. He was originally under the tutelage of his mother from his father's death in 927. During his tenure he added Berga and Ripoll to his domains. In 979, Roger I of Carcassonne ceded Capcir to him. In 984, he assumed the direction of all his father's counties when his last brother died withour heirs. Oliba travelled twice to Rome, first in 968 with the Abbot Garin of Cuixà and second in 988 on his journey to Montecassino, the monastery to which he retired. ; Per Genealogics:
“Oliva was born about 920, the fourth son of Mirón II 'el Joven', conde de Besalú et de Cerdaña, and his wife Ava (de Ribagorza). He was the count of Cerdaña from 965 and count of Besalú from 984 until his abdication in 988. He inherited Cerdaña from his eldest brother Sunifred II and Besalú from his elder brother Mirón III. He was originally under the tutelage of his mother from his father's death in 927.
“During his tenure he added Berga and Ripoll to his domains. In 979 Roger I, comte de Carcassonne et de Rasez, ceded Capcir to him. In 984 he assumed the direction of all his father's counties when his last brother died without heirs.
“With his wife Ermengarda (de Ampurias), daughter of Gausbert, conde de Ampurias & Rosselló, he had several children of whom Bernardo I and Wilfredo III are recorded as having progeny. Ermengarda acted as regent for his sons when he retired to the monastery of Montecassino in 988.
“Oliva travelled twice to Rome, first in 968 with Abbot Garin of Cuixá and second in 988 on his journey to Montecassino. He divided his lands between his three eldest sons: Bernardo received Besalú and Ripoll, Wilfredo III received Cerdaña, and Oliva received Berga. His fourth son Berengar became bishop of Elne. He also had a legitimate daughter Adelaide who married Jean d'Oriol, lord of Sales. By his mistress Ingeberga de Besora he had a daughter Ingeberga who became abbess of Sant Joan de Ripoll.
“Oliva lived out his days in Italy until 990.”.2 Oliva II Cabreta (?) Conde de Cerdaña et de Besalú was also known as Oliba II "Cabret" (?)5

Miró II of Cerdanya and I of Besalú born about 878 and died 927, he was count of Cerdanya from 897 to 927 and of Besalú from 920 to 927. He was the son of Wilfred the Hairy, Count of Barcelona, from whom he inherited the county of Cerdanya. After the death of his uncle, Radulf of Besalú, in 920, he inherited the county of Besalú. He continued the work of his father, contributing to the ecclesiastical restoration of the pagus of Berga.
From his marriage to Ava of Ribagorza, he had four sons and one daughter:
** Sunifred II of Cerdanya (915-968), who received the county of Cerdanya from his father, and became count of Besalú after his brother's death
** Wilfred II of Besalú (?-957), who received the county of Besalú from his father
** Miró III of Cerdanya (?-984), who became count of Cerdayna and Besalú after Sunifred's death
** Oliba Cabreta (920-990), who received both counties as well as that of Ripoll
** Fredeburga, abbess of the Monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses in Ripollès

Also, his relationship with Virgilia of Empuriès, daughter of Dela, count of Empuriès, produced (among others):
** Gotruda of Cerdanya (?-c. 960), married Lupo of Pallars

"MIRÓ [II] "el Joven" de Barcelona, son of GUIFRÉ [I] "el Velloso/the Hairy" Comte de Barcelona i Girona & his wife Guinidilda --- (-Oct 927, bur Ripoll Monastery). The Gesta Comitum Barcinonensium names (in order) "Radulfum, Guiffredum, Mironem et Suniarium" as the four sons of "Guiffredus Pilosus comes" & his wife, Miró succeeding his father in Barcelona[875]. He succeeded as Comte de Cerdanya, Conflent i Berga. It is unclear whether he succeeded his father in [897] or his paternal uncle after 18 Feb 899. A charter dated 18 Feb 899 confirms the possessions of "domna Hemmone habbatissa" in "comitatu Cerdaniensis in valle Petrariense in villa…Stegale", in the presence of "Mirone comite et judices Recosindo Bladino", the document specifying the exclusion of "ipsa hereditatem de Domna Windilde cometissa condam…in villa…Provenca…qui sunt de Recosindo"[876]. It is unclear whether "Mirone comite" in this document is the son of Guifré [I] or his uncle. Comte de Besalú 913. A charter dated 16 May 914 records the allegiance of the inhabitants of San Juan, Ogasa, Surroca and Caballera del valle de Ripoll to the abbess of Ripoll Sant Joan, in the presence of "Mirone et Suniario comites et marchiones, Ermemiro et Unifredo vicecomites"[877]. The testament of "Miro", dated 13 Jun "anno XXVIII regnante Karolo rege" (variously interpreted as 921 or 926, depending on how the reign of Charles III "le Simple" King of the West Franks is calculated), names "sorore mea Hemmoni abbatissa, seu Unifredo vicecomite fideli meo et consanguinea mea Gilesinda, et filio suo Remesario vicecomite fideli meo…sorore mea Ermesinda…filio meo Wischafredo…filia mea Guilindo…filia mea Chixilone…filia mea Goltregoto…filia mea Sesenanda" and "uxori mea Ava", also referring (but not naming) "filios meos legitimos"[878]. The Chronicon alterum Rivipullense records the death in 928 of “Miro com. filius Wilfredi com.”[879]. The Gesta Comitum Barcinonensium records that "Miro comes" died in 929 and was buried "in ecclesia Rivipolli"[880].
"m AVA, daughter of --- (-[955/26 Feb 961], bur Santa Maria de Ripoll). "Rotrudes femina et filias meas…et Vuibertus et uxor mea Goudovara et Emmo" sold property "in comitatu Helenense in Valle-Asperi…alode…Costogia" to "Avane comitissa et filio tuo Holibano" by charter dated 1 Jun 936[881]. The testament of "Miro", dated 13 Jun "anno XXVIII regnante Karolo rege", names "uxori mea Ava" and refers to (but does not name) "filios meos legitimos"[882]. “La condesa Ava y sus hijos Seniofredo, Wifredo, Oliba y Miron subdiacono” donated “alodio en Armancius que habia comprado el conde Miron” to Ripoll by charter dated 15 Apr 938[883]. “Ava comitissa et filiis meis Seniofredus comes et Wifredus comes et Olibra comes et Miro levita” donated property to Cuxà, for the sins of “Mironi comitis genitori condam nostro”, by charter dated 1 Jul 941[884]. “Ava...comitissa” donated donated property to Cuxà, for the souls of “senioris mei domni Mironis comitis”, by charter dated 30 Dec 961, subscribed by “...Isarnus vicecomes, Wanalgaude vicecomes...”[885]. A charter dated 26 Feb 961 records the donation made by the executors of Ava to Ripoll[886].
"Mistress (1): VIGILIA, daughter of ---. Bofarull names "Virgilia" as mistress of Comte Miró but does not cite the primary source which records her name[887]. Bofarull suggests that she was Vigilia de Empúries, daughter of Dela [I] Comte de Empúries & his wife Cixilona de Barcelona (-957). He cites a document dated 23 Apr 983 which records judgment at the castle of Besalú in a dispute concerning property acquired by "conde Dela" from the Jews which he bequeathed to "su hija la abadesa Raulo", who donated it to Santa Maria de Ripoll "en sufragio de…su nepote Suniefredo Comite" and naming "su hermana Virgilia"[888]. He identifies "Suniefredo Comite" with "Seniofredo…hijo de la espuria Chixilone casada con Ajalberto" (see below), although it is not clear from the text how he makes this connection, especially as he cites no other source which names the latter "Seniofredo" as "comes". Her parentage is confirmed by a charter dated 23 Feb 941 under which "Virgilia hija del Conde Dela y de la Condesa Chintol" donated property to "su hermana Ranlo"[1534]. same person as…? VIGILIA . Bofarull names "Virgilia" as mistress of Comte Miró but does not cite the primary source which records her name[1535]. Bofarull suggests that Vigilia, daughter of Dela [I], was the same person as the mistress of Miró Comte de Cerdanya i Besalú who is recorded with the same name. He cites a document dated 23 Apr 983 which records judgment at the castle of Besalú in a dispute concerning property acquired by "conde Dela" from the Jews which he bequeathed to "su hija la abadesa Raulo", who donated it to Santa Maria de Ripoll "en sufragio de…su nepote Suniefredo Comite" and naming "su hermana Virgilia"[1536]. He identifies "Suniefredo Comite" with "Seniofredo…hijo de la espuria Chixilone casada con Ajalberto" (see below), although it is not clear from the text how he makes this connection, especially as he cites no other source which names the latter "Seniofredo" as "comes".

Galindo II Aznárez (?) Conde de Aragón died between 922 and 923.1,3,4,5,6
      ; Per Genealogics:
“Galindo II Aznár was the son and successor of Aznár Galindez II, conde de Aragón, by his wife Onneca Garcés, a daughter of Garcia I Iñiguez, king of Pamplona. He was count of Aragón from 893 to his death. Galindo was one of a coalition that sponsored the 905 coup d'état in Pamplona in favour of his brother-in-law, Sancho I of Pamplona. However, he turned on this new king and in 911 attacked him in concert with his brother-in-law Muhammad al-Tawil and Abd Allah ibn Lubb ibn Qasi. This coalition was defeated, al-Tawil killed, and Galindo forced to become a vassal of Sancho.
“Galindo was married twice. By his first wife Acibella Garcés of Gascony, daughter of Count Garcia II Sánchez of Gascony, he had sons Miro and Bishop Redemtus, along with a daughter Toda Galindez who would have progeny as the wife of Bernardo I, conde de Ribagorza, to whom she brought Sobrarbe. By his second wife Sancha Garcés of Pamplona, daughter of Garcia II Jiménez, king of Pamplona, and Oneca Rebelle de Sanguesa, and half-sister of Sancho I Garcés, king of Navarre, he had Velasquita and Andregota Galindez. Andregota, who married Garcia III Sanchez, king of Navarre, would have a son Sancho II 'Abaca', king of Navarre, count of Aragón. Galindo also sired several illegitimate sons: Guntoslo, Sancho, Belasco, Banzo and Aznár. The first of these, Guntoslo, is apparently the man of this name who would later be count of Aragón, but only as a fully subservient vassal of his brother-in-law the king of Pamplona.
     “Galindo died in 922.”.5 GAV-31 EDV-32.

; Per Farmerie: "Garcia married first Andregota, daughter of Galindo Aznar II, Count of Aragon. It should be noted that she was not 'heiress', and Garcia did not become count of Aragon via his marriage. Rather, Aragon was absorbed into the Pamplona entity when Galindo died in 922, while Sancho Garces I was still ruling - this, in part, led to the erroneous older pedigrees that made Toda, wife of Sancho into a sister of Galindo Aznar, and heiress of Aragon, when she was actually derived from the earlier Iniguez kings of Pamplona.
