Born at Norwalk, June 1664, d. there in 1736; m. in May 1695, Sarah Lockwood, dau. of Ephraim of Norwalk, b. 3 Nov. 1670.
He was prob. the Mr. John Platt of Norwalk who m. [second] at New Haven, 20 Nov. 1722, Mrs. Mary Smith; perhaps widow of Ebenezer Smith who had d. in 1714.
Will 13 Mar. 1735/6, proved 17 Apr. 1736; sons John, Josiah; four daus. Mercy wife of Richard Bouton, Sarah wife of Nathan Whitney, Elizabeth wife of Benjamin Lyon, and Abigail wife of Samuel Waring.
Children:
1. Mercy,* [see below] m. Richard Bouton.
2. Sarah, b. 30 May 1697; m. Nathan Whitney.
3. Elizabeth, b. 11 June 1699; m. Benjamin Lyon.
4. John, b. 2 Apr. 1702; m. Sarah Hickock, dau. of Samuel, Jr., b. at Waterbury, 6 Dec. 1707.
5. Abigail, b. 12 Feb 1207/8; m. Samuel Waring.
6. Josiah
* Her birth is not given in Hall's Norwalk; Mr. Frederick Wood gives it from Norwalk records as 6 Jan. 1690. If correct, this would mean that her father had a first wife before his marriage to Sarah Lockwood, which is possible. However, Sarah Lockwood's mother was named Mercy; Mercy Platt, if born 1690, would have been older than her husband; and I suspect that the date of her birth may have been 6 Jan. 1695 [1695/6], which would make her the eldest child by Sarah Lockwood.[End Quote]2 He was a mentioned with Deacon Richard Platt;

* Her birth is not given in Hall's Norwalk; Mr. Frederick Wood gives it from Norwalk records as 6 Jan. 1690. If correct, this would mean that her father had a first wife before his marriage to Sarah Lockwood, which is possible. However, Sarah Lockwood's mother was named Mercy; Mercy Platt, if born 1690, would have been older than her husband; and I suspect that the date of her birth may have been 6 Jan. 1695 [1695/6], which would make her the eldest child by Sarah Lockwood.[End Quote]3
