; NB: I have based my listing of the ancestors of Richmond (I) TERRELL "The Immigrant", and his brothers William, Robert and John, on the revised genealogy published by the Terrell Society of America (TSA - available on its website). The TSA genealogy is based on the work done by Joseph Henry Tyrrell [1910], Emily Dicken [1952], and O. F. Brown [1982] with elaborations and additional research by TSA contributors.
Tyrrell [1910] posited a genealogy tracing the American TERRELLS from Richard "The Immigrant", back to William the Conqueror and to much earlier English lines. This lineage depended on linking the immigrant Tyrells to the noble British Tyrell family of Thornton Hall. Dicken [1952] accepted the early lineage posited by Tyrrell [1910] and added considerable new details about the American side of the family. Brown [1982] effectively disproved Tyrrell's proposed lineage and any link to the Tyrrells of Thornton Hall, Bucks, and traced the American immigrants back only a few generations to a TYRRELL/TERRELL family of Hegbourne and Reading, Berkshire. Barnhill [1934] began the discussion of the TERRELL lineage with Richmond "The Immigrant", and ignored earlier generations. Over the past several decades, the TSA has started from the revised ancestry proposed by Brown [1982] and built on that, publishing their revised "Proposed English Pedigree of some Immigrant TERRELL's".
Tyrrell [2001] has also added some additional conclusions on the Hagbourne roots of Richmond "The Immigrant" which the TSA has incorporated into their outline. Tyrrell concluded: "Regardless of whether you trace to Richmond, William, or Timothy TERRELL of Va, it appears that the lineage ends with Robert & Agnes of West Hagbourne in Berkshire, no part of Oxfordshire. The long accepted lineage through William to Thronton manor is proven to be false speculation..."

Robert Tyrrold married Eloner (?)1
Robert Tyrrold died between 7 May 1591 and 29 January 1592.1
His estate was probated on 7 May 1592
; Per Tyrrell [2001:1466]: "...Robert left his estate to his wife, Elienor & sons; William Avery, & Robert; daughters, Elizabeth & Mary, but di not mention a son Timothy. The date of Robert's death is unknown. He mah have had a son Timothy either after he wrote his will, or posthumously."2
; NB: I have based my listing of the ancestors of Richmond (I) TERRELL "The Immigrant", and his brothers William, Robert and John, on the revised genealogy published by the Terrell Society of America (TSA - available on its website).

Timothy Terrell married Elizabeth Foster
; The Terrell Society of America rates this marriage as "Probable."1,3 Timothy Terrell was born before 5 December 1656; born after father's death.3 He was baptized on 5 December 1656 at Parish of All Holllows, London, City of London, Greater London, England.3,4
; NB: I have based my listing of the ancestors of Richmond (I) TERRELL "The Immigrant", and his brothers William, Robert and John, on the revised genealogy published by the Terrell Society of America (TSA - available on its website).

Timothy Terrell lived at New Kent Co., Virginia, USA; The Terrell Society of America says that he may have been an immigrant, but they are sure. Per Dicken [1852:19]: "...of New Kent County..."13,3
;
per Barnhill [1934:6]: "Genealogists have expended much time in research for the parents of Timothy Terrell, father of Robert, Joseph and Timothy whose births are recorded in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., Va.
"In a Terrell history written by David Terrell, in 1783, the statement is made that Timothy was a brother to Richmond and William. This history was taken to Ohio by Benjamin Terrell, son of David, in 1833.
"From many sources comes the statement that Timothy was the third son of Timothy, brother of Richmond and William. His oldest brother is said to have been born in 1647, another brother in 1656 and Timothy, Jr. in 1656. Timothy, son of Robert and Jane was baptized January 24, 1631/2. If the above data is correct, he would have been 16 when his first son was born. Instances of the kind are of record, but are very rare. One fact that may substantiate this record is that neither John nor Robert mentions him in their wills, but neither do they mention any of his children. This would also lead to the belief that he was not living, or had otherwise disappeared from the family circle.
"Another attempt at the solution of the problem is that he was the second son of Sir Toby Terrell, brother of Robert of Reading, father of Richmond and William.
"No proofs have been submitted for any of the foregoing propositions. They are inserted in the hope that they may provide a clue to the positive identity of Timothy's parents."
However, the Terrell Society of America, after its extensive review of the more recent research of Brown and others has concluded that this Timothy who married Elizabeth Foster was probably the son of Robert Tyrrold and not Richmond I "The Immigrant"'s son. I have folowed this lineage. GA Vaut.1,3,14 GAV-7.
