Having joined the rising of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, in 1322, he was taken prisoner at the battle of Boroughbridge by Sir Hugh le Despenser and imprisoned. He was released, when his brother, Otes de Grandison, guaranteed for his good behaviour. On 18 April 1323 he had restoration of his lands in Kent and co. Hereford, and in 1324 he was one of the commissioners of array in county Hereford. He was summoned for Military Service 21 March 1332/3. He had uniform of his father's lands, he having done loyalty in 1335, and the King took his service before 15 March 1335/6. He was summoned to Parliament from 23 April 1337 to 10 March 1348/9, to a Council 15 August 1337, and for Military Service 4 December 1341. On 8 August 1339 he had licence to alienate his Irish property as unproductive and wasted by the King's Irish enemies. In 1355 Piers (Peter) de Grandison of the diocese of Hereford, having made a vow to visit Santiago de Compostella, the Bishop of Worcester was authorised to commute it into other works of devoutness, himself being too weak to fulfil the vow.
