In 1755 Richard Hickman Sr. deeded 100 acres to William Hickman Jr. In 1761 William left to his brother George, an little later the land was acquired by Thomas Snead through foreclosure of a mortgage and in 1786 he and his wife Elizabeth sold it to Parker Barnes; a survey showed it to have been at the south end of the tract and about in the middle from east to west.
