I and my Conway cousins who have worked on my Edwin Conway's parentage that married Martha Eltonhead have concluded Edward Conway and Dorothy Tracy are NOT his parents. Evidence does indicate he could be a nephew of Edward Conway. We still have to prove which family member is his parents. Col. Edwin Conway that married Ann Ball did use a coat of arms that was slightly modified from Edward Conway's coat of arms. I am afraid most people on the internet have Edwin's parents wrong that list them as Edward Conway and Dorothy Tracy. We are continuing research on Edwin and the British Isles Conway's of other members of Edward Conway as we think Edwin does descend from that family but to who we don't know as of right now.³

      ; per Dillow: "My 8th great grandparents are Henry Thacker, Sr. that married Eltonhead Conway. She is the daughter of Edwin Conway, Sr. and Martha Eltonhead.

Henry Thacker, Sr. was born ca 1632 in Lancashire. He died after 1686 in Middlesex County, Virginia. Some say his father is Richard Thacker who I have no information on. Henry was transported to Virginia in 1652 by Capt. Augustine Warner.

I do have one notation :

" Henry Thacker, Sr. was in England in 1656 and he made a statement required by law at that time stating that he intended to go to Norwich and there remain among friends." There is a will for Peter Thacker, the younger of the parish of Saint Peter's Mancrofte in Norwich, England. The will was written 12 April 1652 and proven 2 July 1653."²

Henry Chichley Thacker Sr. emigrated in 1652; per Dillow: "Henry was transported to Virginia in 1652 by Capt. Augustine Warner."²

     JAMES and HANNAH HICKMAN left Virginia and went to Kentucky
in 1784 and settled on land [see next paragraph]near Ft. Boonesboro in that part of Fayette County which is now Clark County. JAMES HICKMAN appeared on the 1788 Tax List there. Clark County was formed in 1792.
     According to the source, THE KENTUCKY LAND GRANTS, VOL 1, Part 1, Chapter 2, "JAMES HICKMAN received 2000 acres on 29 May 1775 on Boons (sic) Creek in Kentucky for his War service". Note: According to Kirk Kendrick, "JAMES HICKMAN hired DANIEL BOONE...in 1775 to survey two 2000 acre tracts due him as heir of his brothers RICHARD HICKMAN and THOMAS HICKMAN for their service to the Crown in the French and Indian War [1757 - 1763]. A dispute arose over one of the 2000 acre tracts and the lawsuit which took 23 years to resolve is recorded in the KENTUCKY HISTORICAL REGISTER, Vol 30, pp 344 - 361. The incident is often cited by BOONE's biographers as evidence of BOONE's 'lack of ruthless instincts that speculation demanded'.. BOONE's testimony favored (JAMES) HICKMAN and appears honorable."

     According to author, John Meriwether McAllister who obtained his information from William Terrell Lewis in the GENEALOGY OF THE LEWIS FAMILY; chapter 7; page 131: "HANNAH, daughter of DAVID LEWIS Sr. of Albemarle County, VA, by his first wife Miss ____ TERRELL, was born in Hanover County, Virginia in 1722. In 1744, she married JAMES HICKMAN of Culpeper County, Virginia, where they resided until the 1784, when they moved to what is now Clark County, Kentucky. JAMES HICKMAN was born in 1724 and died in Clark County, Kentucky. HANNAH, his wife, died in the same county in 1822, lacking about four months of being one hundred years old. She was a pious member of the Baptist Church..."

     2. DAVID LEWIS HICKMAN, born 22 December 1749 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married VIRGINIA CLARA McCLANAHAN in 1771 in Culpeper County, Virginia and died in Paris, Clark County, Kentucky in 1825.
     3. ANNA HICKMAN, born 1754 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married STEPHEN HOLLADAY in 1733 in Virginia and died in Clark County, Kentucky in 1836.
     4. HENRY HICKMAN, born 1755 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married PHOEBE BYRD EASTHAM on 21 June 1773 in Culpeper County, Virginia and died in Fayette County, Kentucky in 1804.
     5. ELEANOR HICKMAN, born 1756 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married JOSEPH HILL and settled in Fayette County, Kentucky; she died in Darbyville, Pickaway County, Ohio in 1827.
     6. RICHARD HICKMAN, born 5 November 1757 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married LYDIA CALLAWAY in 1786 in Clark County, Kentucky; served in the American Revolutionary War and rose to the rank of General; became Lt. Governor of Kentucky and served 20 years as a Senator in the Kentucky Legislature; he died on 3 July 1832 in Clark County, Kentucky.
     7. JAMES LEWIS HICKMAN, born 18 December 1759 in Culpeper County, Virginia; married ELIZABETH "BETSY" BRYAN on 16 August 1794 in Lincoln County, Kentucky and died on 10 August 1828 in Lincoln County, Kentucky.
     8. JOEL HICKMAN, born 10 August 1761 in Culpeper County, Virginia; served in the American Revolutionary War; married FRANCES GARETTA WILSON in 1786 in Culpeper County, Virginia and he died in Clark County, Kentucky on 16 July 1852.
     9. HANNAH HICKMAN, born in 1763 in Culpeper County, Virginia ; married GEORGE L. HILL in Virginia and she died in Darbyville, Pickaway County, Ohio in 1854.
