George Gallaher moved ca. 1835 from Fayette County, Pennsylvania to Lucas County, Ohio (parts of which became Fulton County.) George's first wife was Hannah Baird and they lived in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. After her death George remarried to Hannah (nee Haight) Howard 19 June 1838 in Wood County, Ohio.
In 1851, George Gallaher and family moved to La Salle County, Illinois. George and Hannah Baird Gallaher were the parents of eight children. They have been recorded in a family genealogy as follows:
-- James Black Gallaher;
-- William Kilgore Gallaher,
-- Eliza Ann who married William Brown,
-- Lyddy Maria, who married James G. Miller,
-- George Washington Gallaher, Mary Jane who married John McCombs, &
-- Robert Johnson Gallaher, and also
-- an unnamed infant.
Hannah Haight Gallaher also had children and step-children. And George Gallaher is recorded as having adopted a son, David Henry Slagle, who served in the Civil War and was postmaster of Marseilles, Illinois, from 1868 to 1888.
The 1850 census states that George Gallaher was born in Delaware. His parents moved to Fayette County, PA when he was very young. The earliest La Salle County, Illinois, burial information shows their burials in the Butterfield Cemetery, which was later known as the Christian Cemetery.

George Gallaher moved ca. 1835 from Fayette County, Pennsylvania to Lucas County, Ohio (parts of which became Fulton County.) George's first wife was Hannah Baird and they lived in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. After her death George remarried to Hannah (nee Haight) Howard 19 June 1838 in Wood County, Ohio.
In 1851, George Gallaher and family moved to La Salle County, Illinois. George and Hannah Baird Gallaher were the parents of eight children. They have been recorded in a family genealogy as follows:
-- James Black Gallaher;
-- William Kilgore Gallaher,
-- Eliza Ann who married William Brown,
-- Lyddy Maria, who married James G. Miller,
-- George Washington Gallaher, Mary Jane who married John McCombs, &
-- Robert Johnson Gallaher, and also
-- an unnamed infant.
Hannah Haight Gallaher also had children and step-children. And George Gallaher is recorded as having adopted a son, David Henry Slagle, who served in the Civil War and was postmaster of Marseilles, Illinois, from 1868 to 1888.
The 1850 census states that George Gallaher was born in Delaware. His parents moved to Fayette County, PA when he was very young. The earliest La Salle County, Illinois, burial information shows their burials in the Butterfield Cemetery, which was later known as the Christian Cemetery.
