; Cleveland [1873:I:274]: "George Remer, of New Jersey, descended from a family of German Lutherans that came across the Atlantic in the Chip Calledonia, to escape religious persecutions. The vessel which landed these emigrants was worn out condemned and sunk in Raritan Bay. George Remer had siz sons and three daughters. All the sons participated in the War of the revolution and fount for independence. Two of the, John and Bryan, were early settlers of this county [Yates]."1
