Many thanks to S.R.F. (#47738583) for the following info: Virginia Deaths and Burials says he was born in Grayson, Virginia and died at age 50 in 1751 (so born 1701) at Grayson, Virginia.
His parents married in 1690, so I don't think he was born in 1689. His other siblings were also born after 1700. and then wrote: "I just read a lengthy biography of James Anderson with the birth and death dates and locations that you have for him on his memorial. The biography firmly states that this James Anderson was the son of THOMAS Anderson, not of Robert Anderson and Mary Overton. This James Anderson (1689-1751) was named in the Will of Thomas Anderson."

In 1832 he moved to Howard County, Missouri and in 1833 to Chariton County, where he lived until his death, which occurred April 5,1835. He was killed in the town of Keytesville by Mordecai Lane. Oldham was quietly sitting by the fire at the hotel where he was stopping, when Lane opened the door and shot him in the back, killing him instantly. Oldham had purchased some land from lane and was to receive a warrantee deed. The payments on the land had all been made except the last. When Oldham demanded his deed, Lane could give him only a tax-deed, as that was all the title had. Oldham brought suit against Lane for the recovery of his money and because of the litigation instituted by Oldham it was thought, killed him. He was suspected of having committed the deed, was arrested and confined in jail to await his trial in circuit court. Two or three years passed before he had his trial and when it occurred he was acquitted. Upon his death bed, however Lane confessed that he was the man who killed Oldham, thus verifying the old saying, "murder will out."
Oldham left ten children, six boys and four girls, all of whom lived to be grown. They are Richard, Marion, Jarvis, Jackson, Goodman, John, Catherine, Elizabeth, Mary and Ursula. His widow lived until March 8, 1883, her husband having been dead forty-eight years. Bio added by Dori.

Dorothy was listed with her 3 older half-siblings as entitled to a share of lands to be granted in Pamunkey Neck (now King William Co., VA) in a report dated June, 1699, by an Assembly Committee appointed to examine land claims. The patent issued to her husband and her was dated 25 Apr 1701. Since she had to be at least 21 to receive a patent, she must have been born before 25 Apr 1680. If at least 6 months is allowed for government processes preceding issuance of the patent, her birth year must have been 1679 or earlier. "Dorothy Dabney was the fourth child of Cornelius Dabney I and the first child of his second wife, Susannah. According to one estimate, she was probably born about 1680 in the part of New Kent County that is now Hanover County.
"She was married to Capt. William Anderson of King William County between June, 1699, and April, 1701. In 1701, they received a land patent for 179.5 acres in King Wiliam County, recently formed from Pamunkey Neck, previously part of King and Queen County. The patent adjoined three patents awarded at the same time to her half-brothers James and George Dabney and her half-sister Sarah (Dabney) Winston . The patents were awarded because their deceased father, Cornelius Dabney, had a lease or leases in Pamunkey Neck (later King William County) for 600 or 700 acres from the Pamunkey tribe before his death in 1694.
"Dorothy and William had at least eight children. Their eldest son was William, who was living in 1720 when his mother deeded two slaves to him and in 1722 when his grandmother Susanna Dabney Anderson included him in her will, but died before reaching full majority. His brother, Dabney Anderson reached adulthood and died about 1734/35. There were six daughters: Elizabeth, Susannah, Sarah, Mary, Judith, and Ann, concerning whom nothing has been found by this writer.
"William Anderson’s activities in King William County included service as a witness for deeds in 1704 and 1707. On June 20, 1707, he bought a half-acre lot in the recently surveyed village of Delaware Town (now West Point at the southern end of King William County). He was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1710 and sheriff in 1711 and 1712. He died in 1716/17. A copy of the inventory and appraisement of his estate made June 25. 1719 was filed in Louisa County Chancery Suit 1804-006 available in the Library of Virginia’s Chancery Record Index.
"Dorothy remarried to James Trice Jr., probably of neighboring Caroline County, between 1720 and 1722. His father may have been the James Trice who received a land grant of 226 acres in 1673 in New Kent County and was charged with 350 acres in the 1704 Quit Rent Roll in King and Queen County, but in both cases probably in the area that later became Caroline County. James Trice Jr. was a road supervisor in 1733, executor for the estate of his step-son Dabney Anderson in 1735, guardian for Tabitha Booth in 1751, and a juror on five different panels.

Brock cite a lost will of William Anderson proved 1717 mentioning wife Dorothy and children Elizabeth, Susannah, Dabney, Sarah, Mary, Judith, and Ann.
2. His wife Dorothy, who was his executor, submitted the fairly long inventory of his estate June 25, 1719. A copy is preserved in Louisa County chancery suit 1804-006, Charles Crenshaw vs William Trice, Library of Virginia Chancery Records Index.1

"Dorothy Dabney was the fourth child of Cornelius Dabney I and the first child of his second wife, Susannah. According to one estimate, she was probably born about 1680 in the part of New Kent County that is now Hanover County.
"She was married to Capt. William Anderson of King William County between June, 1699, and April, 1701. In 1701, they received a land patent for 179.5 acres in King Wiliam County, recently formed from Pamunkey Neck, previously part of King and Queen County. The patent adjoined three patents awarded at the same time to her half-brothers James and George Dabney and her half-sister Sarah (Dabney) Winston . The patents were awarded because their deceased father, Cornelius Dabney, had a lease or leases in Pamunkey Neck (later King William County) for 600 or 700 acres from the Pamunkey tribe before his death in 1694.
"Dorothy and William had at least eight children. Their eldest son was William, who was living in 1720 when his mother deeded two slaves to him and in 1722 when his grandmother Susanna Dabney Anderson included him in her will, but died before reaching full majority. His brother, Dabney Anderson reached adulthood and died about 1734/35. There were six daughters: Elizabeth, Susannah, Sarah, Mary, Judith, and Ann, concerning whom nothing has been found by this writer.
"William Anderson’s activities in King William County included service as a witness for deeds in 1704 and 1707. On June 20, 1707, he bought a half-acre lot in the recently surveyed village of Delaware Town (now West Point at the southern end of King William County). He was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1710 and sheriff in 1711 and 1712. He died in 1716/17. A copy of the inventory and appraisement of his estate made June 25. 1719 was filed in Louisa County Chancery Suit 1804-006 available in the Library of Virginia’s Chancery Record Index.
"Dorothy remarried to James Trice Jr., probably of neighboring Caroline County, between 1720 and 1722. His father may have been the James Trice who received a land grant of 226 acres in 1673 in New Kent County and was charged with 350 acres in the 1704 Quit Rent Roll in King and Queen County, but in both cases probably in the area that later became Caroline County. James Trice Jr. was a road supervisor in 1733, executor for the estate of his step-son Dabney Anderson in 1735, guardian for Tabitha Booth in 1751, and a juror on five different panels.

Her 1st husband. According to their Find A Grave memorials their oldest child listed, Dabney, was born in 1700. Dabney Family of Early VA says "In June, 1699, Dorothy Dabney was not yet married when she was listed in the report of the Committee for Examining Claims to Land in Pamunkey Neck (English Duplicates of Lost Virginia Records, Louis Des Cognets (Princeton, NJ: author, 1958), p. 59, but was listed with her husband, William Anderson when the patents were granted in April, 1701 (same source, p. 69)."1,3

Captain William Anderson was born about 1680 in New Kent County, Virginia and died in King William County, Virginia in 1717. In 1710 he was appointed Justice of the Peace in King William County. In about 1700 he married Dorothy Dabney who was the daughter of Cornelius Dabney. She was born in about 1683 in New Kent County and died some time after 1720 in King William County.
Children listed in the order shown in William Anderson's 1717 Will published in "The Richmond, Virginia Standard" issue dated July 30, 1881: Elizabeth, Susannah, Dabney, Sarah, Martha, Judith, Ann, William.
