Mildred Eloise Norwood, 91, died peacefully on the morning of July 4, 2005.
She was residing at Brookdale Heritage Crossings, formerly Oklahoma Christian Retirement Community in Edmond, Oklahoma. Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, L. B. Norwood. Other surviving family include her daughter Linda Lou Norwood of Okarche and Ramona Arnold and her husband Phil, of Edmond; two grandchildren Larry Arnold, of Lawrence, Kansas and Janice Arnold of Wichita, Kansas; a sister Patsy Flowers of Kingston, Oklahoma; also surviving are two nieces, Donna Kaye Obermeyer, and Laura Easton.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents Oly and Mary Vaught, Sr., a sister Juanita Willingham, and a brother Oly Vaught, Jr.
Eloise was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on November 14, 1913. She and L. B. Norwood were married on January 28, 1933 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
She was a long time resident of Pauls Valley and Wynnewood, Oklahoma. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley in 1929. She was active in Presbyterian Women's Vesper Circle; the Joy County Extension Club; and the Garden Club. She began painting about the age of sixty and enjoyed painting with oil paint, watercolors, and china painting. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends in her home.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley Thursday, July 7th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Other surviving family include their daughters, Linda Lou Norwood of Okarche and Ramona Arnold and her husband, Phil, of Edmond; two grandchildren, Larry Arnold of Lawrence, Kansas and Janice Arnold of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Pauline Richardson, of Wynnewood and Alleyene Cook and her husband, T. M., of Ardmore; also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Leavy Norwood, two brothers, William Norwood and Howard Norwood.
L. B. was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on February 13, 1910. He and Eloise Vaught were married on January 28, 1933 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
He was a longtime resident of Pauls Valley and Wynnewood, and had several businesses, including a fresh produce business, grocery store, car dealership, real estate and insurance agencies, and a poll Hereford ranch. He was a man who loved his family, family gatherings, horses and cattle ranching. L. B. was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley.
Edmond had been his home the past two years and nine months.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Tom Buzbee. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

He and his family were Quakers. There at the home of David Price, Oct 20, 1692, his daughter Bridget, was married to Griffith Miles (brother of Richard Miles) born in Wales in 1670, immigrated to America about 1683. Another daughter, Jane, was married to James James at the same house. One month later, Nov 17, 1692, his daughter Martha was married. to Joseph Todd. These daughters, with their husbands, became Baptists after the Keithian Schism, Joseph Todd being one of the deputies that met at the house of Richard Miles Jun 22, 1706 to compromise matters of dispute among the Baptists." Note that this marriage year contradicts the official records."1,4,3
