Daniel Whittenburg married Mary J. (?) between 1846 and 1850
;

;
His 2nd wife.4
Daniel Whittenburg died on 30 December 1876 at Richview, Washington Co., Illinois, USA, at age 67.1
Daniel Whittenburg was buried after 30 December 1876 at Richview Cemetery, Richview, Washington Co., Illinois, USA; From Find A Grave:
; There is a Daniel WHITTENBERG in Covington, Washington Co., IL in the 1820 census of more or less the right age to be a brother of Matthew or a son born young (by a first, unidentified wife?). Daniel WHITTENBERGs (var. sp.) then appear in Washington Co., in the 1830, 1840 92 Daniels), 1850, 1860, 1865 and 1870 federa/state censuses. It is clear, based on ages, that they are not all for the same person.
There were at least two Daniel WHITTENBURGs (var. sp.) in Washington Co., IL in the early 1800's. I now believe that the older one was the Rev. Daniel #1 WHITTENBURG (1791-1845), the son of John Henry and Mary Ann (HOYLE) WHITTENBURGER, Sr. The younger one was Daniel #2 (J.?) WHITTENBURG (1809-1876), Rev. Daniel's nephew (the son of Matthew and Rachael (GASTON) WHITTENBURG.
There is also Joseph WHITTENBURG 9born ca 1793) in the 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1860 federal censuses who was likely a brother of the Rev. Daniel #1 WHITTENBURG (and uncle of Daniel #2).
I am currently matching the various census records to these two individuals to try to create a clearer picture.5

; There is a Daniel WHITTENBERG in Covington, Washington Co., IL in the 1820 census of more or less the right age to be a brother of Matthew or a son born young (by a first, unidentified wife?).
