Dorman, Virginia Revolutionary Pension Applications, Vol 6; Washington, D.C.1961

"Nicholas Bickers. S18178. Orange Co.,VA. Nicholas Bickers of said county, aged 89, declares he was drafted on each tour he performed. He thinks each tour was three months. On one tour Belfield Cave was Captain; on another Major Burton was Captain. On each except the last he marched to Williamsburg. The last he marched to Winchester Barracks to conduct some prisoners. In going to Williamsburg his company passed through Caroline County, by the Court House, and also by New Kent Court House. During the last tour he met the prisoners this side of Williamsburg and marched to Winchester through Fredericksburg, Falmouth, and Fauquier County. Colonel Edmunds and Major Nathaniel Welch commanded the troops that conducted the prisoners.
He was born in Orange County, Virginia, 16 March 1744 (has memorandum of age at home) on the same tract of land on which he now resides, within 300 yards of the spot he now lives.
24 January 1834. Orange County, Virginia. Nicholas Bickers of said county, aged 89, declares he was drafted and served three months on each of four occasions. On the last tour his company was on the march to York. When just above Williamsburg they met some of the prisoners of the British army and were informed of the surrender. His company was put under Colonel Edmunds who was guarding the prisoners and marched to Winchester.
Nicholas Bickers of Orange County, Virginia, private in the regiment of Colonel Edmunds in Virginia Line one year, was placed on the Virginia pension roll at $40 per annum

Coleman Marshal 1820 United States Federal Census

As Coleman and Joanna were married in 1815, it is possible that some of the younger children were not all their biological children. It is also possible that date of mariage is wrong. It is likely that some died young and were lost to history.
