MORRISTOWN (Special) -- The body of Mrs. John E. (Constance) Helms Jr., 82, a former co-publisher of The Morristown Daily Gazette-Mail who disappeared in January, was found yesterday afternoon in Cherokee Lake.
     The body was recovered around 1:30 p.m. by the Morristown Rescue Squad after it was discovered by Mr. and Mrs. Carey Stidham of Morristown who were fishing near the Helms' summer home.
     Local officials were called to the scene after the body of her Poodle dog was found floating in the lake. Mrs. Helms' body was floating near the bank, 50 yards upstream from where the dog was discovered.
     She was last seen on Jan. 18 when she took a taxicab out to Cherokee Lake. The cab driver let her off at the driveway entrance to the family cabin, but she apparently did not go on the property. Her cane was later found near the lake.
     The Morristown Rescue Squad had previously dragged the lake for Mrs. Helms' body, but had turned up no trace. The rescue squad searched the lake a thousand man-hours, including some 16 squads and 250 men on a weekend following her disappearance in January.
     The body was identified by her son, Dr. Crampton H. Helms of Morristown, yesterday afternoon. An autopsy has been ordered, although there is no indication of violence, according to Hamblen County Deputy Sheriff Charles Long.
     Mrs. Helms and her husband were former co-publishers of The Morristown Daily-Gazette Mail.
     Mrs. Helms had for years written a column titled 'Connie's Corner,' for the old Morristown newspaper.
     Besides Dr. Crampton Helms, John E. Helms III serves as editor and co-publisher of the newspaper, and a third son, Bill Helms, is business manager for the paper.
     Mrs. Helms was also a member of a prominent Greeneville family. She [was] the former Constance O'Keefe of Greeneville. She taught in the Greeneville city school system, but resigned when her pay was reduced $5 because she was living at home. She started setting type for her sister, Mrs. Edith O'Keefe Susong, then publisher of The Greenville [sic] Sun."

     Coleman Marshall moved to East Tennessee sometime between 1850 and 1860. He first came to Flat Creek near present day Mascot, Knox County, Tennessee, where he established an inn. From there, he moved to Jefferson County at Mossy Creek because of Indian troubles with the Cherokee. He was a member of the Richland Church and of the Mossy Creek Baptist Church. The site of interment is not known.
