Joshua Warren was born on 2 April 1594 at Nayland, co. Essex, England.1 He married Sarah Morris in 1618 at Colchester, co. Essex, England.2
Joshua Warren died in 1640.1
; The LDS Ancestral File lists one Joshua Warren as son of John the Middle Warren of Nayland. The Colchester St.Mary Walls parish register includes an entry for the marriage of Joshua and Sarah. In his book, "Immigration of IrishQuakers into Pennsylvania 1682-1750", A.C.Myers mentions the three marriages of daughter Elizabeth.
The "History and Genealogy of the Warren Family" by Rev.Thos. Warren in 1902 includes the will of Joshua Warren in 1640. It states that Joshuah Warren, a merchant of Colchester, had brothers Amos and Isaac, and sisters Elizabeth (m.Lawrence) and Mary (m.Stone). The will also mentions wife Sarah and children Hester, Sarah, Elizabeth, Joseph and Mary. The family of John the Middle Warren included children Joshua, Amos, Isaac, Elizabeth and Mary. If Joshua indeed be the son of John the Middle Warren, then we can claim descent from his long and noble pedigree.
The will of Judith Morris of Dedham, Essex on January 25, 1645 mentions a brother (bro-in-law?) Josuah and his children; Josua, Sarah, Elizabeth and Hester. The will also mentions John Morris, William Morris and Thomas Morris.
The 1662 Hearth Tax List for Layer-De-La-Haye, just south of Colchester, lists one Joshua Warren, possibly the son. In the visitation of 1664-1668 by Bysshe, Joshua Warren of same parish, signed a disclaimer of his rights to arms.1 EDV-8.

Sir Henry Griffith1
M, #46460, b. circa 1557, d. 1620
Father | Walter Griffith2 d. 1574 |

Sir Henry Griffith was born circa 1557 at Wigmore, Herefordshire Unitary Authority, Herefordshire, England.1 He married Elizabeth Throckmorton, daughter of Thomas Throckmorton Esq., of Morehall and Mary Whorwood, in 1583 at Coughton, Warwickshire, England.3,2
Sir Henry Griffith died in 1620.2
; Sir Henry (1558-1620) "of Wichnore" [sic], "Staffordshire" son of Walter Griffith (d 1574) married 1583/4 Elizabeth Throckmorton dau of Thomas Throckmorton, Esq "of Morehall" (d 13 Mar 1614/5) and his wife Margaret Whorwood
Sir Henry's eldest son Walter died v.p. the second [or third?] son Sir Henry Griffith, Knt in 1627 was born in 1603 and I believe was the inheritor of Burton Agnes when his father died in 1620. This son apparently died without issue as next heir was the son of his sister Frances who had married Matthew Boynton.
Margaret Whorwood was the dau of William Whorwood and his wife Margaret Brooke. This Margaret Brooke died 1589 "aged 80" and was the dau of "Richard Brooke, Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer" (Does anyone have dates on this Richard ?)
After Margaret Brooke's first husband died (date unknown to me) she married William Sheldon of Beoley, eldest son of Ralph Sheldon "Esq of Aberton" (or also called of Beoley) and his wife Philippa Heath dau of Baldwin.
This William Sheldon had first been married with Mary Willington dau of William Willington, Esq of Warwick "of Barcheston" and his wife Anne Middlemore" Mary Willington died 25 Jan 1553.
It's interesting that William Sheldon and Margaret Brooke could not have married before 1553 and Margaret was then 44/5 and yet they had another child (per the Visitations of Worcester, 1569, online at www.ancestry.com, British subscriptions).2

Muriel Berkeley was born circa 1516 at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, England.1 She married Sir Robert Throckmorton of Coughton Court, Warwickshire, son of Sir George Throckmorton Knt., of Coughton Warwickshire and Katherine Vaux, between 1526 and 1527 at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, England,
;
His 1st wife.1,5,6,3
Muriel Berkeley died circa 1541 at Coughton, Warwickshire, England.1
; Muriel Berkeley, daughter of Thomas, 5th Lord Berkeley of the second creation, married, allegedly in 1527, Sir Robert Throckmorton (1512-1581), of Coughton Court, Warwickshire. In his _Lives of the Berkeleys_2:231, John Smyth of Nibley says that Muriel "was a lady of a small stature, lived long and virtuously; and saw ere she died descended from herself 220 persons, as I have very credibly been informed by such as undertook to recount them, many of whom now follow." He goes on to name five children for Muriel, 24 grandchildren, and 69 great-grandchildren; the last count is clearly not complete, but is near enough so that it is hard to see how Muriel's descendants for three generations could total 220.
More fundamentally, it is clear that Muriel could not have seen any of her descendants other than her own children. While she presumably did live virtuously, she did not live "long." Sir Robert's epitaph
at Coughton (published in Dugdale's _Warwickshire_ p. 755 and in C. Wickliffe Throckmorton's _The Throckmorton Family_ p. 125) shows that Sir Robert married (2) Elizabeth (Hussey) Hungerford and had seven more children by her. I have seen Sir Robert's second marriage dated to 1542, which cannot be far off. (Anne Throckmorton, one of the daughters of that marriage, married Sir William Catesby in 1566. Their son Robert was, of course, the mastermind of the Gunpowder Plot.)
As has often been noted, Smyth of Nibley is usually very accurate, and particularly where, as here, he is dealing with events not far removed from his own time and within the personal ken of people he knew. His statement about Muriel is a most puzzling lapse, and I am unable to account for it.7
