There are three unknown HART women in the 1880 census for Clinton Township, Henry Co., MO. They are possibly related to the widow Martha L. (HART) in Bear Creek, Henry Co. in 1880, but apprently not her daughters.
According to her Find A Grave memorial, Martha was the wife of George HART (both born in PA), but they don't seem to be the children of George (based on children listed in the 1860 and 1870 censuses with him (both in Doylestown, Biucks Co., PA). George apparently died in PA in 1871 and his wife, Martha, moved to MO sometime after that (to be in MO for the 1880 census).4,5,6,7,8,9

; A Private James M. Green is shown in Company C, 43rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry "Whitfield Guards" Mustered in Aberdeen, Monroe Co., MS, 27 March, 1862.

The 43rd Regiment, Mississippi Infantry Volunteers, CSA, was also known as "Moore's Regiment,"
"Harrison's Regiment," "the Camel Regiment," and "the Bloody Forty-third."

Organized 15 May 1862

The 43rd Mississippi Infantry saw service at Iuka, fought at 2nd Corinth, resisted Grant's Central
Mississippi Railroad Campaign, repulsed Sherman at 2nd Chickasaw Bayou, served in Deer Creek
Expedition (Pound's detachment), nobly endured the Siege of Vicksburg, fought at the Siege of Jackson (Pound's detachment), campaigned at Chickamauga (Pound's detachment), helped turn back Sooy Smith's Meridian Expedition, fought in the 100 Day's Battles all the way from Resaca to Atlanta, endured the Siege of Atlanta, skirmished at Decatur, made a famous charge on Franklin's bloody fields of glory, was shattered at Nashville, but, undaunted, rose from the ashes to fight
again at Kinston and, finally, took part in the last great Confederate charge at Bentonville.

From James Huffman (huffman@ametro.net) 15 July 2001:
This is what I have on James, from his Compiled Service Record (official record of service): Private James M. Green -- enlisted 7/2462 at Gainesville, AL, where the 43rd was stationed; wounded and captured Corinth; paroled 10/19/62 at Iuka, MS (from Corinth capture); absent disabled on 2/28/63 muster roll; returned to regiment at Snyder's Bluff (north of Vicksburg) before Siege of VB began (siege began 5/17/63); sent to VB hospital from Snyder's Bluff (according to 6/30/63 muster roll); absent sick at hospital on 10/31/63 muster roll; AWOL on 12/31/63 muster roll (but many loyal soldiers were AWOL from the 43rd at this time, as the regiment had not been exchanged from its VB capture); present January-August 1864; 11/30/64 wounded Franklin, TN; home on wounded furlough remainder of war [Note: Wounding and furlough information come from Green’s 1907 pension application. This information is unquestionably reliable, however, because the State of Mississippi paid Green $2,442.60 as a Confederate pension in 1898, a whopping sum. This money was surely in compensation for his Corinth and Franklin woundings. Also, Green was present on the last official muster roll 8/64, indicating true loyalty to the South. Most of the soldiers who were present 8/64 seem to have served until the end of the war.] (occupation in 1907: farmer) (aged 17 years at enlistment.)10

These records would indicate that James M. Green was in MS at least by 1854 (birth of Nancy) and remained there until about 1868 (left after birth of William J. who was 2 in 1868). I think nearly everyone left MS during 1869. The IRS assessment taxes were just terrible, the place was almost totally burned to the ground so there wasn't much to stay there for, and the Reconstruction was particularly irksom there, I think ... I was not able to find the county in MS from which they left, though. There was only one James M. Green on the 1860 census index of MS, and he was not the correct one, so I think we can mark that one off. He was probably just listed as James Green or perhaps J. M. Green in 1860, so it may take a bit of searching to find where he lived in MS.. Hereinafter cited as "Betty Clay email 19 Aug 1994."

"This was the only Green family in Kaufman Co., that year. There was a Charles Green, only about 22, listed with another family as a laborer, and a Goodwin Green, who had no wife or family. So, I would suspect that Nancy was the daughter of this family .... According to this, the family had been in Texas only about a year before the census. I looked in Miss. 1860 for the James M. Green family in Pontotoc Co., but it was the wrong family. Wrong wife, wrong children, wrong ages...". Hereinafter cited as "Betty Clay email 17 Aug 1994."

BIRTH     25 Oct 1938, Pauls Valley, Garvin County, Oklahoma, USA
DEATH     6 Feb 2019 (aged 80), Pauls Valley, Garvin County, Oklahoma, USA
Phyllis Elaine Herren was born on October 25, 1938, to Charlie and Beulah Campbell in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She passed away on February 6, 2019, after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her daughters Susan Ramsey and her husband, LR Ramsey, and Lisa Sherwood, grandchildren, David Ramsey and Amy Ramsey, Kyle Fincham, Jessica Furey, Austin and Hunter Smith, Nicole Morris, and great-granddaughter, Rayne Caldwell, plus several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Harold Herren, her parents, her brothers, Jay and Don Campbell, one sister and her husband, Janelle and Jon Law, and two special friends, June Wall and Sylvia Martinez.
She grew up in south Oklahoma City, graduated from Southeast High School and then attended Central Christian College, now known as Oklahoma Christian University, for one year before working as a secretary at Tinker Air Force Base. She later spent many years working as a homemaker and caregiver before beginning a career as a zyglo operator and painter in the aircraft and auto industries. She worked at Chromalloy, GM, Seagate, and Gulfstream before she was laid off following 9/11, giving her time to care for her mother before her mother’s passing.
She began her Christian walk at South Shields Church of Christ, and has been a member of Eastside Church of Christ since 1968. She helped prepare materials for Vacation Bible School, shared items with the clothing giveaway, and provided care for the children of young mothers. She loved meeting visitors in the parking lot and helping them “get to know” Eastside. She also had a special concern for the spiritual well-being of many as they neared the end of their lives—-reaching out to them to make sure they were ready to meet the Lord.
She was a dedicated caregiver. She patiently cared for Harold, her mom, and her brother, Don at the end of their lives. She and Harold fostered several children in the early 70s, including their daughter, Lisa. She came to them as a tiny, six pound, three-month-old. In that time foster adoptions were not allowed, so a year and a half later, when she was going to be placed with a new family, Phyllis and Harold fought to make her a part of the family. They were eventually successful in adding her to the family.
Phyllis loved to travel. Vacations were usually camping trips, but later she and Harold enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. They traveled the country to see old friends-the Walls, the Sheriffs, and the Martinez families. She often repeated stories about the last trip she and Harold took with Grandma Campbell to the Ozarks. Like her mom, she was known for her green thumb. She had the most beautiful yard on Elm Street and nearly an acre of flower beds at her home in the country. She could keep her family fed for more than a year on the canned fruits and vegetables harvested from a small garden plot on the city lot on Elm. She also grew iris, day lilies, and a multitude of trees. When it was time for a leaf collection assignment from school, the grandkids only had to go one place-Grandma Phoebe’s!
She loved collecting antiques, which she often classified as “junktiques,” and finding bargains at garage and estate sales. She also loved buying just about anything her mom wanted or needed, sending Grandma Campbell on a tour of New England, being a Girl Scout leader, making ceramics, sewing, collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments for herself and her mom, making Christmas wreaths, shopping at Cracker Barrel, sweet ham, her own special recipe of green beans, sweet potato casserole, maple cream of wheat, creamy tomato soup, and grapefruit juice.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Pareek and his kind nurses, Robin and Bess, the nurses at Stephenson Cancer Center, and the nurses and staff at Oklahoma Hospice Care for their patient care during her illness. We also want to thank Steve Morris for his help during her cancer treatment, Mary Ann and Kent Bizzell and Helen Cannefax for their friendship, encouragement and help with Mom over the last two years and for the prayers and encouragement from our Christian family at Eastside.
